2026 MONTANA CAMPAIGN NEWS:
MAGA Majority Program…
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced on Monday that Aaron Flint is being added to the 2026 MAGA Majority program. The MAGA Majority is an NRCC program focused on supporting and elevating the next wave of America First candidates who will help expand the Republican House majority in 2026.
Based on my experience over the years, I don’t see the Republicans winning a majority in the U.S. House this November. In the next decade or so, we’ll see the MAGA name become a negative mark on those who sold their souls to follow it.
AOC Endorses Sam Forstag…
Team AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ) announced that she was endorsing Sam Forstag for Congress in Montana’s 1st District.
It did not take long for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) to attack Forstag for the endorsement, calling him “her Montana puppet.” (Source)
I was checking Fortstag’s website, and he has racked up an impressive list of endorsements. Some may say AOC and Bernie Sanders endorsing Forstag will harm him. I think it will help in Missoula and Bozeman.
Campaign Mailers Update…
For new readers, I keep track of the campaign literature received during the campaign season. Some of the better mailers get shown on The Western Word.
So far this primary campaign season, I have received 17 campaign mailers.
That is through Monday (April 27).
Please make sure you save your mailers and recycle them!
DONALD & 60 MINUTES:
Sunday’s 60 Minutes segment with President Donald Trump was a study in whiplash. What opened as a civil conversation took a sudden, jagged turn into ‘full asshole’ territory, as the President abandoned all pretense of decorum in favor of a total scorched-earth approach.
Norah O’Donnell was very professional and polite to Trump. When she read the shooter’s manifesto, Trump got very irritated:
O’DONNELL: The so-called manifesto is a stunning thing to read, Mr. President. He appears to reference a motive in it. He writes this quote, “Administration officials, they are targets.” And he also wrote this, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” What’s your reaction to that?
TRUMP: Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re– you’re he– you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m– I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.
O’DONNELL: Oh you think– do you think he was referring to you?
TRUMP: I’m not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I’m not a pedophile. You read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with all– stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, little’s say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, “You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably”– I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.
O’DONNELL: Mr. President these are the gunman’s words –
TRUMP: And I was never– excuse me. Excuse me. You shouldn’t be reading that on 60 Minutes. You’re a disgrace. But go ahead. Let’s finish the interview.
O’DONNELL: The other thing that he wrote, in the–
TRUMP: You– you’re disgraceful. (Source)
MELANIA & KIMMEL:
First Lady Melania Trump took to social media to attack late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for a monologue he delivered last week:
Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.
People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.
A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.
Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.
Later, President Trump called for Kimmel to be fired.
In my humble opinion, Donald Trump fundamentally poisoned our political ecosystem. By elevating inflammatory rhetoric into a standard campaign tool, he stripped the guardrails from public discourse and replaced them with raw vitriol. He laments the nation’s decline, yet fails to recognize he is the primary architect of its current decay.
ONE MORE THING:
When it doesn’t bother you anymore like it used to, that’s peace.
