Campaign 2014: Post-Election Analysis

It was a pretty boring election night in Montana, except when the Montana Secretary of State’s website with election results went down a few times. Most of the candidates I thought would win actually won and the races that I was interested in were not that close.

Thanks to all the people who visted my website and followed me on Twitter throughout the evening.

Here is my analysis of Campaign 2014 – I write about U.S. Senate and House races, Montana Senate, Montana House, State Legislature, Supreme Court, Ballot issues, plus I grade the media coverage of it all.

Campaign 2014: One More Day!

The final push is here! Voters head to the polls on Tuesday and late Tuesday night we’ll start seeing the results. There will be tears of happiness and there will be tears of sorrow.

Thanks to all the candidates who ran for office in 2014.

You need to vote! If you are from Montana, click HERE to find out how. If you are from some other state, click HERE.

The Western Word (TWW) will have all hands on deck for election night. I will be up most of the night following the races and providing independent updates (and these updates will be posted mostly before anyone else).

So, here is what you need to do: You need to follow me on Twitter @TheWesternWord for updates. If you don’t have Twitter, go to my website TheWesternWord.com and follow the Twitter feed on the right side of the screen (Hit refresh every few minutes).

Finally, make sure to buckle your seatbelts Tuesday night around 8:00 p.m. Montana time.

On Tuesday night I’ll be paying attention to U.S. Senate races in Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.

Here in Montana there are some interesting races. Here are a few Montana races that will have my attention:

Campaign 2014: LR-126 & Supreme Court Mailers

Today I take a look at the debate between Secretary of State Linda McCulloch (D) and state Rep. Champ Edmunds (R) about Legislative Referendum 126 (LR-126), and the mailer I received about the Montana Supreme Court race. I also comment about a new Gallup Poll that asked about members of Congress.

Campaign 2014: Wheat & VanDyke

If you have not received a glossy mailer from groups promoting Mike Wheat and/or Lawrence VanDyke for Montana Supreme Court, you’re lucky.

Along with the Montana’s U.S. House race, the race for Supreme Court Justice #2 may be one of the more interesting races in 2014.

The “Non-Partisan” Montana Supreme Court justices are elected for eight-year terms, so whoever wins the race will be there almost until the cows come home.

Here at The Western Word, I like to make things pretty easy for the voters, and deciding for whom to vote in this race is really pretty easy – so read on…

Caught My Eye…

Thanks for stopping by to read “Caught My Eye” – the last one for April, so buckle up!

If you are a first-time visitor, “Caught My Eye” is posted right here every Friday morning! This is when I take a quick look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little.

Today I write about Barry Beach and Bullock, Lawrence VanDyke and the Supremes, Corey Stapleton telling us “Folks are Upset,” Cliven Bundy telling us “about the Negro,” and (sadly) about 40 veterans who died in Arizona.

Plus, we have a winner who is Making Montana Proud! Read on…
