Campaign 2014: Post-Election Analysis

It was a pretty boring election night in Montana, except when the Montana Secretary of State’s website with election results went down a few times. Most of the candidates I thought would win actually won and the races that I was interested in were not that close.

Thanks to all the people who visted my website and followed me on Twitter throughout the evening.

Here is my analysis of Campaign 2014 – I write about U.S. Senate and House races, Montana Senate, Montana House, State Legislature, Supreme Court, Ballot issues, plus I grade the media coverage of it all.

Caught My Eye…

There are only FOUR days until Election Day 2014!

By the way, that is a really scary mask you have on today – HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

If you are a first-time visitor, “Caught My Eye” is posted right here every Friday morning! This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little – or maybe both.

Today I write about election night coverage, Walsh & Plagiarism & NRSC, Absentee Ballots, Daines & fundraising, Ryan Zinke’s records, Student’s Mock Election, Battle for the U.S. Senate, plus I have a winner who is Making Montana Proud!

Thursday Numbers

We made it Thursday – Congrats!

If this is your first time visiting The Western Word, “Thursday Numbers” is my weekly column where I take a look at the numbers in the news (in descending order) and provide commentary sometimes laced with just a little sarcasm.

Please note that if you read this column you may be able to use the information to impress your family, friends, and co-workers. Then again, when they find out you spend your time reading blogs they may not be that impressed…

This week I write about Manti Te’o, LeBron, unemployment, the NRA, Tester and Begich, Montana gambling, the 57th quadrennial Presidential Inauguration, graduation rate, Michelle Obama, Kid Rock, Zooey, Muhammad Ali, Salazar and Schweitzer, the circus in Helena, the Python Challenge, my guns, and much more!

Now his Republican colleagues can cast him away like a piece of trash and feel OK about it.”

Many of his Republican colleagues did just that.

Readers may remember that Stevens was convicted on federal corruption charges just a couple of weeks prior to Election Day 2008. Continue reading
