CAMPAIGN MAILERS UPDATE:
On Friday, I reported that I had received 76 campaign mailers during the primary election season.
Since then, I have received seven more mailers, bringing the total to 83 mailers.
Please make sure you recycle the campaign literature!
250TH CELEBRATION:
According to NPR and several other sources, President Trump has suggested that an event celebrating America’s 250th birthday should instead be a Make America Great Again rally after many of the artists who were announced to perform dropped out. The Great American State Fair, which is set to begin on June 25 on the National Mall, had featured artists such as Martina McBride, Morris Day and the Time, The Commodores, and Poison’s Bret Michaels — who have all since withdrawn from the lineup.
Here is what Trump wrote on social media:
I understand Artists are getting “the yips” having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate “Artists,” and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!
The memes making fun of artists withdrawing from the celebration have been hilarious. I have seen memes saying artists like The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, 1-800-Kars for Kids, Phoebe Buffay, and the banjo kid from Deliverance have pulled out of performing.
Only one person could screw up the USA’s 250th Birthday, and that person is Donald J. Trump.
60 MINUTES:
I have watched 60 Minutes for most of my life. It is my favorite news show. It seems to be the favorite of many others, as it is always near or at the top in ratings. When I am not able to watch it live, I have recorded it. I always learn something when I watch the show.
Since Bari Weiss was named editor-in-chief of CBS News, she has been making some major changes, especially at 60 Minutes. I don’t like the changes. According to several reports, Weiss has zero experience with broadcast news, television production, or managing a major network news division before taking over as Editor-in-Chief of CBS News. Two of my favorite correspondents, Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, both had their contracts cut or terminated. Anderson Cooper decided to leave 60 Minutes after spending 20 years there.
I guess ratings will tell. 60 Minutes has been ranked as a top 20 show for 49 seasons, so I don’t see any reason to change what is working. (Source)
HOCKEY & BASKETBALL:
The 2026 Stanley Cup Final between the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes will begin Tuesday in Raleigh, North Carolina. The games will be televised on ABC. (Source)
The 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs begin on Wednesday in San Antonio. The games will be televised on ABC. (Source)
ONE MORE THING:
I have 10 gallons of diesel fuel, willing to trade for a three-bedroom house with a pool.
