Caught My Eye…

If you’re lost in the woods start talking loudly about politics. Someone will show up to argue with you. – Unknown

Welcome to the big column to end the week, “Caught My Eye” (CME)!

REMINDER: Today (Friday, June 21) is the first day of summer!

If you are a first-time visitor, welcome! CME is the once a week column that is posted here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. There may be some sarcasm and pointed independent commentary so be warned!

Here are the topics that “Caught My Eye” this week:

  • MT-Gov Poll Results
  • The “A” Word
  • Rumble in the Falls II
  • Night Court
  • One More Thing

MT-Gov Poll Results:

Earlier this week, I posted one of those famous polls at The Western Word asking readers who they thought would win the Republican primary election for Montana Governor.

So far there are five Republicans who have announced that they intend to run for Governor of Montana. They are Attorney General Tim Fox, U.S. Representative Greg Gianforte, State Senator Al Olszewski, former State Senator Gary Perry, and Army veteran Peter Ziehli.

Here are the results:

  • Tim Fox – 70.97%
  • Greg Gianforte – 19.35%
  • Al Olszewski – 6.45%
  • Peter Ziehli – 3.23%
  • Gary Perry – 0%

Thanks to all who participated. More polls to come!

The “A” Word:

In a post on his campaign Facebook Page, Candidate for Montana Governor and current Attorney General, Tim Fox, says that his opponent, Congressman Greg Gianforte voted for amnesty while in Congress.

I don’t know which is worse for the Republican voter: voting for amnesty, punching a journalist, or screwing Montana over by abandoning the U.S. House seat and leaving Montana with zero clout in the House.

Readers?

Nonetheless, the gloves have come off early in the Republican Primary for Montana Governor.

Rumble in the Falls II:

The filing date has passed and it looks like there will be six candidates for two seats on the Great Falls city commission.

According to local television station KRTV, there are two open seats on the City Commission, and the candidates include Rick Tryon, Bruce Pollington, Kim Rodriguez, Jasmine Taylor, and Terry Thompson. Commissioner Tracy Houck is seeking another four-year term.

Readers may remember that back in 2015 Houck beat Tryon, in a race that went to a recount, by 11 votes. (Source)

Tryon never really got over the loss and has been going after Houck since then. Has he done enough to hurt her chance for reelection?

With all the animosity that Tryon has toward Houck that should make the race an interesting one. I don’t know the other candidates, so I will be doing some research. As of now, Houck will get one of my votes for city commission.

Night Court:

A friend received a summons to report for jury duty from the Great Falls Municipal Court, Cascade County. The friend thought my readers might get a kick out of it. By the way, my friend was not called for jury duty.

First, the trial date is Friday, June 21, 2019. The time for the trial is listed as 10:30 PM.

I did not know the Great Falls Municipal Court was holding night court on Friday nights. Maybe Judge Harry T. Stone will be presiding.

Second, apparently, the first or second grader who created the document had just discovered the “bold font” feature. They also discovered they could make some words and/or numbers in the document larger than other words.

Finally, they discovered how to underline words and sentences while using the bold font feature and the “all caps” feature while using that larger font to make important points throughout their document.

Remarkable.

One More Thing:

Finally, from our friends across the pond:

A mother breastfeeding in public allegedly ‘squirted her boob’ at a woman who told her to move somewhere private.

The incident is said to have happened in a park in Dartford, Kent this week and was later reported on a local Facebook forum.

The post states: ‘To the lady in Dartford Park who thought it was appropriate to breastfeed her baby whist my child and very easily distracted husband sat nearby.

‘I don’t think it was necessary for you to react the way you did just because I asked you to go somewhere private, telling me to f*** off and squirting me with your boobs was incredibly uncalled for. I hope you are ashamed of yourself!’

  1. Our disqualified president is becoming a menace. It is no joke Mike. Killing innocent people is, and always has been, a criminal act. I do agree he is probably a year early. We need at least an impeachment inquiry and a rescinded use of military force. Also those who ignore a congressional subpoena should have an arrest warrant issued and incarcerated until compliance. Including the president

    • Doug – Either that or he did not want to hurt Tucker or Hannity’s ratings. Maybe he wants to wait until closer to Election Day. – JmB
