GREAT FALLS CITY COMMISSION RACE:
The Montana Free Press (MTFP has published the second of two articles about the four candidates for the Great Falls City Commission:
On Nov. 4, voters will decide who will fill two open seats on the Great Falls City Commission. Four candidates are running for the positions, and the top two vote recipients will win. Those candidates are Matt Pipinich, Casey Schreiner, Pete Anderson and incumbent Joe McKenney.
Montana Free Press interviewed all four candidates. This week’s newsletter features comments from Anderson and Schreiner. You can read about Pipinich and McKenney in this earlier newsletter edition.
One of the key issues I am looking at in this election is the fact that the current commission has frequently raised taxes, fees, and rates. It seems to cost me more every time they meet. Any incumbent running for reelection will not get my vote because of that. I want new people with new ideas.

GREAT FALLS MAYORAL RACE:
I happened to catch THIS VIDEO from “The Montana Resistance” that I found funny. Of course, Great Falls Mayor Cory Reeves and his #1 cheerleader, Rick Tryon, did not find it so funny. They attacked Reeves’ opponent, Jasmine Taylor. Reeves and Tryon seem to get offended easily.
I wish the makers of the video had dressed the Mayor in a silly-looking vest.
Taylor had this to say in response:
Very unfortunate to see the Mayor mislead people about this video.
I did not create this video or have anything to do with it’s creation.
My understanding is a private citizen created this after the Mayor privately insulted that citizen.
The Mayor may want to detract from his history of “denying” Pride proclamations that were never requested, and the other actions in the video, including raising utility rates. However, this video is fully based on his behavior.
Perhaps he should stop bullying voters to the point that they feel compelled to take such action.
However, I will not be held accountable for a video I did not create. Maybe Mayor Reeves should try standing by his record for a change.
Every time Reeves and Tryon and their MAGA followers attack Taylor, she ends up looking like the only adult in the race.
GOOD STUFF/BAD STUFF:
The other day, when I was out for my walk, I saw a few potholes at an intersection. I noted the address, and when I got home, I visited the city’s website, contacted Public Works, and filled out the “Street Maintenance Notification Form.”
Within 36 hours, the potholes were patched. That deserves applause.
Last Thursday morning, when I was out for my walk, I saw a dead deer partially on the road within the city limits. I noted the location (23rd St. S. by MSU-GF) and when I arrived home, I called the non-emergency police department number. I gave the officer the location. He told me he would let Animal Control know.
On Monday, the deer was still there. That is too long.
TRUMP’S WEEKEND:
President Donald Trump posted the following message on social media October 12:
THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM – DO SOMETHING!!! President DJT
Snopes Fact-Checked Trump’s claim, stating:
His post — which failed to mention that he was president on Jan. 6, 2021, not Democrat Joe Biden, then the president-elect — had amassed nearly 40,000 likes as of this writing.
Biden was not even in office yet. Trump has mental health issues.
The other big news from the weekend was that President Donald Trump WAS NOT awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His people were pissed! (Source)
Maria Corina Machado of Venezuela won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. It probably bothers Trump that a female was awarded the prize!
BTW, four U.S. Presidents have won the Nobel Peace Prize: Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Theodore Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson.

I think there’s a pretty good chance that Obama will get another Nobel prize. He openly acknowledged that he got the first one for being NOT George W Bush. Seems like a shoo-in for being NOT trump.
No idea of the reality, but I saw a comment that someone was listening outside the room where the Nobel committee was meeting, and heard raucous laughter every time someone mentioned trumpsky’s name.
Thanks. There’s a lot of laughter or shaking one ‘s head in disbelief when Trump is mentioned. 😂
So very surprising that Trump did not win the Nobel Peace Prize that had already been decided before his Gaza deal was even announced! After all this guy made that Gaza war much worse through his actions and inactions, failed to end the Ukraine war on his first day in office like he promised much less any day since then, dropped bombs on Iran in a fight that wasn’t even his, regularly sends people to the worst prisons imaginable around the world, acts as judge jury and executioner to blow up boats in the Caribbean, threatened to take over Greenland by force and threatened to take unilateral military action in Mexico, commands a force of unmarked masked thugs who kidnap people off American streets and seem to delight in shooting Americans in the head with pepper balls for no apparent reason, terrorizes his own cities and people with military occupations, and so much more. He had so much going for him!
