The Wednesday Read

Here are some of the topics that caught my attention for this commentary:

  • Fox News & Biden
  • Dianne Feinstein
  • Third Most-Watched
  • Pitchers/Catchers Report
  • The Mother Ship

FOX NEWS & BIDEN:

In case you missed it, the Fox network televised the Super Bowl and normally the network airing the Super Bowl will have one of their journalists interview the President during the pre-game leading up to the game.

I think the pre-game show on Fox started at 11:00 a.m. (Montana time) and kick-off was about 4:40 pm, which gave Fox plenty of time to interview the President. The pre-game show was way too long.

There was no interview conducted. Maybe Fox could not find an actual journalist to do the interview.

Here is what is being reported…

The Hill is reporting that the White House’s decision not to have President Biden sit down with a Fox News journalist for an interview during the network’s pregame coverage of this year’s Super Bowl signals a potentially frosty road ahead for Biden and the nation’s top cable news company.

The Hill also reported that the two sides have given conflicting versions of what went on behind the scenes in the days before the interview,

Imagine that.

Imagine if Fox News’ Peter Doocy did the interview. Doocy is the Republican version of CNN’s Jim Acosta.

I think it is a waste of time to do an interview with the President before the Super Bowl. I think we need to get politics out of a lot of things – including sports. I hope next year, CBS, who has the 2024 Super Bowl, decides not to interview the President. Don’t hold your breath – it’s an election year – so you know both sides will miraculously come to an agreement to do an interview.

DIANNE FEINSTEIN:

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced that she is retiring from the U.S. Senate and will not run for reelection in 2024. She will be 90 years old in June.

Feinstein has been in the U.S. Senate since 1992, and before that, she was the mayor of San Francisco.

You can read some of Feinstein’s accomplishments as a U.S. Senator HERE.

Democrats control most of California, and it appears that U.S. Representative Adam Schiff is the frontrunner for the seat being vacated by Feinstein. Schiff is 62 years old.

THIRD MOST-WATCHED:

USA Today is reporting that an estimated 113.1 million viewers watched the Super Bowl 57 telecast between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Nielsen said on Tuesday. Fox, which broadcast the game, said the Chiefs’ 38-35 win is the third-most-watched television show in history. The total viewership numbers include broadcasts on Fox and FOX Deportes, as well as streaming on Fox and NFL’s digital sites.

The Chiefs’ victory parade is today (Wednesday).

PITCHERS/CATCHERS REPORT:

A sure sign that spring is not too far away is that it is time for the pitchers and catchers to report for spring training.

According to Fox Sports, Spring training is starting a little earlier for several top MLB stars due to their participation in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, with the rest of their teammates not far behind. The World Baseball Classic runs from March 8-21 and can be seen exclusively in the U.S. on the FOX family of networks and the FOX Sports App.

The Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season starts on March 30 and ends on October 1.

THE MOTHER SHIP:

I think the balloons were just probes. The mother ship will be coming soon.

Anyone who watched “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” will remember the mother ship sent probes before it arrived. (Trailer)

I remember discussing this movie with Elvis and Bigfoot when we were aboard a UFO…
