The Monday Memo

Quote for the day…

The secret to happiness is freedom… And the secret to freedom is courage. – Thucydides

Today’s independent commentary deals with these issues:

  • The Western Word Poll
  • Election Security Forum
  • Early Voting
  • Ultra-MAGA Condoms
  • Reading Assignments

THE WESTERN WORD POLL:

Back in March, I asked readers to pick which statewide elected official in Montana had embarrassed them the most. (Results)

Now we are almost to June and a lot has happened, so it’s time to ask the question again:

WHICH STATEWIDE ELECTED OFFICIAL IN MONTANA HAS EMBARRASSED YOU THE MOST? (May Edition)

Thanks for participating.

ELECTION SECURITY FORUM:

I’ve seen several posts (like this one) on social media about an “Election Security Forum” being held in Great Falls on Tuesday (May 24).

The event will be held at GFC-MSU in Heritage Hall. It all begins at 6:00 pm.

The speakers will be Mark Cook of Colorado and State Senator Theresa Manzella (SD-44).

I did not see in any of the posts if those attending needed to bring their own tinfoil hats or if one would be provided…

EARLY VOTING:

In case you missed it, Early Voting won the Preakness Stakes this weekend. (Source)

For my friends in northern Missouri, the Preakness Stakes is a horse race.

I also heard that hardly any Republicans bet on Early Voting because they are against it. They are also considering calling for a re-race…

ULTRA-MAGA CONDOMS:

For a laugh, check out the clip from Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) from Friday evening.

“The made in America condoms that will rig your erection.”

You view the clip HERE.

  2. Based on the story about the Southern Baptists, it’s little wonder evangelicals see pedophiles lurking behind every woodpile. Pogo put it best, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

    • Terry – True. It makes it harder for people to believe in Churches being a safe place and a place of love and full of caring people. Sad times in the USA. -JmB

  3. Not just Trump. The entire GOP has been fomenting civil war and inciting violence for so long now that it’s become normalized and accepted policy, so much so that we now have a sheriff who has declared himself to be a constitutionalist sheriff and all that entails. It’s not mistake that a lawyer from Missoula suggested that school superintendents should be shot when the Arise America tour was in town. Even Elsie Arntzen was there too, our state superintendent of schools. People need to wake up to this threat. It is real. We are in a bad place when even our own local law enforcement sides with modern day Nazis.

Remember that Jesse Slaughter’s good buddy Richard Mack said that he was out to recruit local sheriffs to his cause? Well, he got Jesse. And the entire state GOP as an added bonus!
