Welcome to another exciting edition of Caught My Eye (CME).
CME is the once a week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are the topics that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- State Rep. Kerry White
- Steve Daines’ Trial
- Rudy Melts
- Hello Michigan
- One More Thing
STATE REP. KERRY WHITE:
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reported that Montana State Representative Kerry White on a Parler and Facebook post he has since deleted referred to vice president-elect Kamala Harris as a “Hoe.” The Chronicle also reported that White also shared an image this week on Facebook, which he has deleted, calling for Democrats to be hanged and White has engaged with several posts on Parler and Facebook that falsely state President Donald Trump won reelection and President-elect Joe Biden’s victory is fraudulent.
White was recently named to Governor-elect Greg Gianforte’s transition advisory team for the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.
If Gianforte has any decency he should remove White from the advisory team. It’s not a good look for the new administration. I won’t hold my breath.
We need to call out people like White who have problems with women being elected to higher office. Back on November 8, I wrote about seeing someone post something nasty about Harris. I said then that disparaging and denigrating comments like that one should be put in the trash. I also said that this one came from a male, so I can only imagine the way he treats the females in his life.
I also added that if you see comments like that one, take a screenshot of it. Most people list where they work on Facebook. Look up their place of employment and email the comment to their Human Resources department. If they work at a place that sells goods and deals with the public, let them know how their employee feels about women.
One thing I missed was if the person is an elected official, tell the media.
The Great Falls Tribune reported that White “apologized Thursday for some postings on social media in which he used a derogatory term to describe Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.” He also contends some of his comments had been photoshopped, according to the Tribune.
Chalk this up as another embarrassment for Montana.
STEVE DAINES’ TRIAL:
When I first heard about a trial U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) was involved in, I wondered if found guilty would President Trump pardon him.
Then I found out it was a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine trial.
Daines kind of struck it rich on the trial. First, he and his wife were chosen, and then they obtained the antibodies. Fox News did a story about his bravery. #Bingo
The Montana Post is following this story and has some great questions. Read the post HERE.
RUDY MELTS:
In case you missed the circus of a press conference put on by the Trump campaign lawyers, the Daily Mail reported it this way:
Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani delivered a rambling monologue Thursday meant to reveal evidence for a ‘massive’ vote fraud where he quoted ‘My Cousin Vinny’ and claimed he had ‘hundreds’ of sworn affidavits as evidence that he would not share – because, he claimed, it would put his witnesses’ lives at risk.
The most intriguing thing during the press conference was watching Twitter explode as the hair dye ran down Giuliani’s face:
As the two-hour long spectacle unfolded, two streaks of brown dye rolled inexorably down 76-year-old Giuliani’s face, apparently unnoticed by the former mayor and presidential candidate, who wiped his face and forehead repeatedly with a white handkerchief.
See a photo HERE.
Rudy has fallen so far…
HELLO MICHIGAN:
Kelly Stafford, wife of longtime Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, apologized on Thursday after calling Michigan a “dictatorship” in response to news of the state’s new Covid-19 restrictions. (CNN)
I’m not sure Ms. Stafford understands what a dictatorship is, but free speech is great, isn’t it? Sometimes you have to eat your words as Ms. Stafford did.
If Matt Stafford is traded to the Jets this week, we may know the reason…
ONE MORE THING:
Keep on rockin in the free world…
good blog. Curiously the video might persuade some people where reason, facts, and evidence won’t. I agree with old-line Democrat (I guess I am one) that the result of Trump’s four years is to treat as normal: behavior that is truly, essentially NUTS. Many people actually believe what Trump says. Amazing, but a study of history should not find that cultism so unusual. What can happen to Montana (we have much to lose) is very sad. Keep up the good work. Thanks for what you do. Even if you have not figured out that football should be outlawed. 🙂
John – Thanks. I always enjoy your comments. – JmB
So, you want your readers to “out” the bad actors like White to the general public, their employers etc.? Have you done so at any point before or since this time? Rep. White has been a public figure spouting these types of views, some publicly and presumably widely in the dark corners of the web (where I do not venture) If so, when, if not, why not? Acquiesence to this type of behavior for so long has allowed it to become normalized. You as a professed political consultant should be in the forefront of protecting our societal norms.
Old Line: Yep. That’s about it. I will try to do my part. Thanks, JmB
