Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Today’s quote…

What did our parents do to kill boredom before the internet? l asked my 26 brothers and sisters and they didn’t know either. – Unknown

Today’s column takes a quick look at these people/issues:

  • Associated Press (AP) VoteCast
  • Alec Baldwin
  • One More Thing

The AP conducted a nationwide survey of about 133,000 voters and nonvoters — including 1,135 voters and 137 nonvoters in Montana — conducted for The Associated Press by NORC at the University of Chicago.

Two things that stood out to me were the college-educated voters and voters from small towns.

College-educated voters in Montana favored Joe Biden for President, Steve Bullock for U.S. Senate, and Mike Cooney for Governor. They are Democrats.

Voters in small towns and rural areas were more likely to back Donald Trump for President, Steve Daines for U.S. Senate, and Greg Gianforte for Governor. They are Republicans.

Being college-educated does not mean you are more intelligent, but I do believe those with a college education are more well-rounded and see things differently than those who didn’t get a college education. The exceptions are a few non-educated people who were (or still are) on my Facebook timeline who show a very low level of intelligence when it comes to promoting fake news and conspiracies.

No matter how many times they post “Trump Train” photos and fake shit about a rigged election, Joe Biden will be the President on January 20, 2021.

Another interesting thing is that forty-six percent of voters think the coronavirus is not at all under control in this country. With new records being set every day all across the USA, I would have thought that percentage would be higher. It’s not anywhere close to being controlled.

Actor Alec Baldwin posted a Twitter message from his foundation page that has some on the right up in arms:

Bury Trump in a Nazi graveyard and put a swastika on his grave.
The majority of Americans made the right choice.
Trump is a maniac.

In case you do not know, Baldwin plays Trump on Saturday Night Live. He is not that funny. I think Baldwin’s best work was as Jack Ryan in “The Hunt for Red October.” That was 30 years ago.

For the record, I do not think Trump will be buried in a Nazi graveyard. He will probably die in prison and be buried in a prison cemetery somewhere in New York.

Speaking of Twitter posts…

Steve Schmidt, a political strategist who was formerly a Republican, posted the following on Twitter that probably says what most Biden voters are feeling:

@realDonaldTrump you are the worst President in American History. Disgrace will always precede your name. Your Grandchildren and great grandchildren will grow up ashamed of their names. One day I suppose there will be some small and not much visited library that bears your name. (Source)

It will be the type of place where a drunk walks by, staring at the wall for a minute, before deciding it is beneath his dignity to piss on. (Source)

Free speech is an amazing thing. I participate every day.
