The Monday Memo

Today’s independent commentary deals with these people/issues:

  • The Trump Emails
  • Million MAGA March
  • Trump Coming Around
  • One More Thing

THE TRUMP EMAILS:

Last week I wrote about the Trump campaign sending fundraising emails at a rate of 25-30 per day. They did not stop over the weekend.

Sunday evening I received one with the subject, “I’m not going anywhere. Biden did NOT win.”

In the email, Trump writes:

It’s been heartwarming to see all of the tremendous support across the Nation from great American Patriots, like YOU. Organic rallies have been springing up all over the Country in support of yours truly – incredible!

One thing has become clear these last few days, I am the American People’s ALL-TIME favorite President.

If Trump would have been this persistent when he first heard about the coronavirus, he might have won reelection.

MILLION MAGA MARCH:

From what I’ve been reading, the “Million MAGA March” came up short almost 988,400 people. This was the rally on Saturday in Washington, D.C. Some reports say about 11,600 people showed up.

Reuters reported “Tens of thousands” showed up. Rolling Stone reported the “crowd – estimated to number in thousands or possibly tens of thousands.”

One of the photos published by Fox 5 in D.C. had this caption:

Several hundred thousand white supremacists, q-anon conspiracy theorists, neonazis, and Trump supporters held a march in Washington, DC demanding the overturn of the 2020 election of Joe Biden to the presidency, on Saturday, 14 November 2020.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted out two overhead photos of President Donald Trump supporters who had gathered for a pro-Trump march in Washington, writing, “AMAZING! More than one MILLION marchers for President @realDonaldTrump descend on the swamp in support.” (Chron.com)

There was some violence. There were some arrests. The President drove by on his way to play golf but did not stop to address his admirers. This was probably heartbreaking for them.

The bottom line is it did not do any good. Biden is still the winner.

TRUMP COMING AROUND:

Fox News reported that President Trump for the first time on Sunday signaled that Joe Biden “won” the 2020 presidential election that he continues to say was “rigged” against him, adding that he is not conceding the race.

Whether or not he concedes, he kind of did with that Tweet.

Just as long as he leaves on January 20, 2021, I will be happy.

ONE MORE THING:

The other day I visited the doctor. The nurse was getting my medical history and asked me, “Do you have any history of mental illness in your family?”

I answered, “I have an uncle who thinks Trump is a Christian sent by God.”

Have a great week!
