The Monday Memo

Stay focused. Your start does not determine how you’re going to finish. –Herm Edwards

Today’s independent commentary deals with these people/issues:

  • Super Bowl LIV
  • Kansas and Missouri

SUPER BOWL LIV:

We did it – my Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions! The Chiefs Kingdom deserved this win, along with head coach Andy Reid.

It’s been 50 years. I was 10 years old when the Chiefs last won the Super Bowl.

Heck, I deserve this win, too!

I was worried at the end of the third quarter, but then again I have been worried about the Chiefs in every game during these playoffs. They once again came from behind for the victory.

We dined on barbecue ribs, coleslaw, and baked beans throughout the evening and washed it down with my special Sangria.

As the game came down to the final seconds with victory in sight, the champagne bottle was popped and we celebrated into the night!

We are Super Bowl Champions!

KANSAS AND MISSOURI:

President Donald J. Trump congratulated the Kansas City Chiefs for their victory and added:

“You represented the Great State of Kansas and, in fact, the entire USA, so very well.”

As a native Missourian, nothing ticks me off more than hearing people say the Chiefs are from Kansas. In the sports world, most Missourians can’t stand Kansas.

The fact is the Chiefs reside in the Great State of Missouri. Their mailing address is One Arrowhead Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.

I guarantee that Trump will lose some votes over his latest gaffe.

The best response to the President was from former U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who retweeted the President’s Twitter post and added:

It’s Missouri you stone cold idiot.

Amen to that.
