The Wednesday Read

The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets people to do the greatest things. – Ronald Reagan

These topics caught my attention in the last 24 hours:

  • Impeachment Trial
  • Most Important Race of 2020
  • Super Bowl Poll
  • One More Thing

IMPEACHMENT TRIAL:

Congrats to the President’s legal team for not using their allotted time. They wrapped up their defense early Tuesday afternoon.

It was like POTUS said, “Take the afternoon off.”

Then the news broke that Republican leader Mitch McConnell does not have the votes to stop witnesses from being called. Some reports said that there are several undecided Republican Senators and they will wait until after the questioning to make a decision.

That has got to worry the Republicans, a little. They must consider the big picture: Even if witnesses are called, they won’t provide enough evidence to get 67 votes if 100 senators are present to remove Trump.

Keep your powder dry, folks!

Senators are submitting questions during the next two days. It’s like passing notes and the teacher intercepts them and reads them to the entire class.

MOST IMPORTANT RACE OF 2020:

Here at The Western Word, I try my best to follow all the major political races. The one is going to be a close one, I bet!

It’s Lincoln the goat versus Sammy the dog in the race for honorary mayor of Fair Haven, Vermont.

According to the Associated Press, the Nubian goat had won the post in Fair Haven, Vermont, last year after the town manager came up with the pet mayor election to raise money to rehabilitate a community playground and to get kids civically involved.

They should do that in more cities because having a goat or dog in charge might be better than a human…

Baaaa…

SUPER BOWL POLL:

On Sunday, February 2, 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. The game will be played in Miami at Hard Rock Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox and it starts at 6:30 ET.

The Western Word poll asks, “Who do you think will win, Chiefs or 49ers?”

Vote by clicking HERE.

The results will be posted Friday!
