The Monday Memo

Look in the mirror and you’ll see your only competition. –Unknown

Today’s independent commentary deals with these people/issues:

  • Trump & Toilets
  • Bobcats & Grizzlies
  • College Football Playoffs
  • College Football Bowl Schedule
  • One More Thing

TRUMP & TOILETS:

When I first heard about President Donald Trump saying “People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once” I figured it was fake news.

It wasn’t. The official White House transcript can be found HERE.

On Friday the President and Vice President were leading roundtable discussion on small business and red tape reduction accomplishments when Trump made the remarks:

We have a situation where we’re looking very strongly at sinks and showers and other elements of bathrooms where you turn the faucet on — in areas where there’s tremendous amounts of water, where the water rushes out to sea because you could never handle it — and you don’t get any water. You turn on the faucet; you don’t get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out. It’s dripping out — very quietly dripping out. People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once. They end up using more water. So, EPA is looking at that very strongly, at my suggestion.

Maybe in the President’s house someone might leave a load in the toilet that requires more than one flush, but I have not seen someone needing to flush their toilet 10-15 times a day.

I’m thinking that Team Trump should create a campaign commercial with some fat Trump supporter in a MAGA hat saying that since Donald Trump has been the President he only needs to flush his toilet once.

I was going to write about turds, but I will move on.

BOBCATS & GRIZZLIES:

Both the Montana State University Bobcats and the University of Montana Grizzlies won their second-round playoff games in the FCS playoffs.

They will play on Friday night. ESPN3 will carry the games. The Griz play at Weber State. The game starts at 8:00 pm (Montana Time). The Bobcats host Austin Peay at 6:00 pm (Montana Time).

It was a little disheartening to see empty seats during the games in Missoula and Bozeman on Saturday. Official attendance in Bozeman was 12,947 and the stadium holds 17,777. Over in Missoula, the official attendance was listed as 16,550. The stadium holds 25,203.

The Griz have to go on the road for their next game, but the Bobcats have another home game. That gives Bobcat fans a chance to show up and fill the stadium Friday night.

The FCS Playoff bracket can be viewed HERE.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS:

The top four teams in the College Football Playoffs were announced Sunday. They are:

  1. LSU
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Oklahoma

No. 1 LSU and No. 4 Oklahoma will play in the semifinals December 28. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Clemson will play in the semifinal game on the same day.

The College Football Playoff National Championship will be played on January 13, 2020, in New Orleans.

All the games will be televised on ESPN. For more information, click HERE.

I think LSU will win it all. They are a pretty great team.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL SCHEDULE:

Are you ready for the College Football Bowl season?

It all starts on December 20 with the “Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl” that features Buffalo vs. Charlotte. That game is in Nassau, Bahamas, which is not a bad place to be on December 20.

There are 41 bowl games this year, so pace yourself.

You can check out the schedule by clicking HERE.

ONE MORE THING:

With the 23-16 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, my Kansas City Chiefs won, for the fourth year in a row, the AFC West.

Pop the cork!

With just three games left, it is important to continue winning to get a bye.

  1. BREAKING: ABC News can confirm that the Trump “family member” referenced in the Inspector General report who had a friendship with dossier author Chris Steele, was Ivanka. She met him in 2007 at a dinner in London when he was still working for MI6. https://t.co/W64i5GPqVK— Julia Macfarlane (@juliamacfarlane) December 9, 2019

Also, a reminder that the Steele Dossier was initially being paid for by a Republican.
