Today’s quick hits deal with these important subjects:
- Tester’s Big Announcement
- Trump & Bush 41
- FCS Playoffs
Tester’s Big Announcement:
The Great Falls Tribune headline, “Tester says he won’t run for president,” caught me by surprise.
I mumbled something to myself like, “I did not know he was even considering it – nobody tells me anything.”
Then I thought, “At least he’s gotten that out of the way early and he won’t have to worry about it anymore.”
Tester recently appeared on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show. Maddow thinks Tester should run for President. The Great Falls Tribune devoted about 1,000 words to Tester saying “no thanks” to the idea. You can read the full report from the Tribune HERE. It made the front page of the print edition.
I actually would like to see more moderate Democrats and Republicans run for office – so maybe John Kasich and Jon Tester could team up…
Yeah, that’s the ticket!
As long as we are writing about presidential decisions, someone should break the cold hard truth to Montana Governor Steve Bullock and tell him he does not have a chance of becoming President – but he does have a real good chance of beating Steve Daines for U.S. Senate.
Trump & Bush 41:
The Washington Post reported that the Bush family contacted the White House this past summer to say that President Trump would be welcome at the funeral of former president George H.W. Bush scheduled Wednesday at Washington National Cathedral, and to assure him that the focus would be on Bush’s life rather than their disagreements, according to one former administration official.
I think after Trump is seated and the funeral begins, all is fair, right?
After thinking a little about the situation, this is just like Bush 41 to try and be a peacemaker and have everyone come together. He is a leader.
I would not have even invited Trump to the funeral if it were me making the decisions for the Bush family. It would have been the ultimate slam.
But then again, I like to hold grudges…
FCS Playoffs:
The final eight teams in the FCS football playoffs are set. Montana State was eliminated by the top seed, North Dakota State last Saturday by a score of 52-10.

You heard it here first: Weber, NDSU, SDSU, and Eastern Washington move on this week. Next week NDSU and SDSU move on with NDSU winning another championship.
Rick – Sounds good. I’d like to see Eastern Washington win it all. – JmB
