Monday’s Quick Hits: Fox News poll, Stormy, March, & Santorum

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. – Albert Einstein

Today’s quick hits deal with these issues:

  • Fox News Poll about Guns
  • The Stormy Daniels Interview
  • March for Our Lives
  • Rick Santorum

Fox News Poll:

On Sunday, Fox News released poll results that showed by a 13-point margin, voters consider protecting against gun violence more important than protecting gun rights (53-40 percent).

Yes, that is a Fox News poll.

In an effort to reduce gun violence, the poll also found:

  • 91% Favor universal checks
  • 84% Favor mental health checks
  • 72% Favor raising the legal age to purchase guns to 21
  • 69% Favor putting armed guards in school
  • 60% Favor a ban on assault weapons

Fox News also reported that among all voters, 49 percent have a positive opinion of the NRA, down from a high of 56 percent in January 2013. A record high 45 percent have a negative view of the organization. For comparison, majorities have a favorable opinion of Planned Parenthood (58 percent) and labor unions (57 percent).

Ouch.

The Fox News poll is based on landline and cellphone interviews with 1,014 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters.

Let’s hope that with this wave of enthusiasm to do something about gun violence in the United States, that something finally gets done. Read the story about the poll HERE.

The Stormy Daniels Interview:

If you like President Donald J. Trump then you probably thought the Stormy Daniels interview on 60 Minutes was a big lie and an attack on him.

If you dislike the President, then you probably found her story compelling.

You can read the whole transcript of the interview HERE.

I watched the whole interview. Knowing the President’s past and things that he has done and said, I think that helps the credibility of Stormy Daniels.

Daniels claims to have had sex one time with Trump and that she spanked him with a magazine with his photo on it:

So he turned around and pulled his pants down a little — you know had underwear on and stuff and I just gave him a couple swats.

She was 27 and the Trump was 60. She says she was later threatened by someone to leave Trump alone. That was in 2011.

After the interview concluded, I felt that Daniels was believable about many assertions she made. Of course, some of her accusations may have been over-dramatized to make her look better. There are many questions that remain.

The President has little or no creditability. It’s tough to say, but an adult film star comes across as more believable.

The sad thing is that this issue is not going away. We are stuck with it.

Thinking back, we never had these types of problems with Presidents like Barack Obama or George W. Bush. They were good men. Voters knew of Donald Trump’s past and many overlooked it to give him the victory.

Now we are stuck with him and stories like this for the next few years.

March for Our Lives:

I watched a lot of the March for Our Lives rally Saturday and listened to the speeches from several during the rally in Washington, D.C. I watched it on CSPAN so the students’ messages were not drowned out by a bunch of old people commentating about it.

I was impressed. After watching it, I think our future is in good hands. We’re going to be alright.

There’s a wave building with these young people. They are registering people to vote. They are energizing the country to fight for stronger gun control laws. It is happening all across the USA.

So watch out – the wave is coming.

Rick Santorum:

Former Republican Senator and Presidential candidate Rick Santorum appeared on CNN’s State of the Union and offered the following comments about the students protesting for stricter gun laws:

“How about kids instead of looking to someone else to solve their problem, do something about maybe taking CPR classes or trying to deal with situations that when there is a violent shooter that you can actually respond to that.”

Rick Santorum is not a smart man.

  1. What F*X didn’t report. Only 37% support teachers having guns in schools.

Looks like Fox forgot to include that last option in its graphic. Wonder why pic.twitter.com/fvWYidG2sO— Jon Passantino (@passantino) March 25, 2018
