Goodness is the only investment that never fails. – Henry David Thoreau
Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!
In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Cascade of Talent
- City RockFest Tour
- Dava Newman
- Primary/Caucus Day
- Peyton Manning
- March Madness
Cascade of Talent:
Congratulations to all the young people who performed in the 11th annual Cascade of Talent show in Great Falls this past Sunday. (GF Tribune)
It’s always good to see programs like the Cascade of Talent showcase the talents of our young people. Applause to the sponsors like the Embark Credit Union and the Uptown Optimist Club for supporting the show and for all those who made it possible.
City RockFest Tour:
The good news is that there’s a free concert this Friday night in Great Falls sponsored by the Downpour Festival!
Disciple, Seventh Day Slumber, Decyfer Down, Spoken and Children 18:3 will perform at the Mansfield Convention Center in Great Falls this Friday night. Doors open at 6:00 and the concert begins at 6:30.
Don’t forget – it’s free!
Newman is the Deputy Administrator of NASA, and a native of Helena, Montana. She recently visited Helena and Capital High School and talked about NASA’s current missions – like going to Mars. (MTN)
Applause goes to Newman for coming back to Montana and sharing her knowledge.
The good news (for political junkies like me) is that there are more primaries and caucuses today! (NY Times)
Today is the Hawaii Republican caucus, the Idaho Republican primary, and primaries for Republicans and Democrats in Michigan and Mississippi.
Is this a great country or what?
Peyton Manning Retirement:
The good news for teams in the AFC West division is that quarterback Peyton Manning is now officially retired from the Denver Broncos. (ESPN)
Manning had a remarkable career and he was a professional. Congrats to him and his family. I enjoyed watching him play when he was not playing my Kansas City Chiefs.
The good news is if you like basketball, then the 2016 NCAA men’s basketball tournament is approaching. Selection Sunday is March 13. Before that, we will get to see several conference tournaments. (ESPN)
There are really no dominant teams this year so anything is possible!
