And I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring? –Chuck Noland (Cast Away)
It’s time for another edition of Terrific News Tuesday!
In case this is your first time reading Terrific News Tuesday (TNT), this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Malmstrom AFB
- Health Insurance
- USAF Thunderbirds
- New Hampshire Primary
It has been great to see Malmstrom Air Force Base get back to their winning ways recently. The Great Falls Tribune reported Friday that the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom has been named the best missile wing within U.S. Strategic Command.
Congrats to all the men and women at Malmstrom.
Montana Governor Steve Bullock along with Commissioner of the Montana Department of Labor & Industry Pam Bucy, and State Senator Ed Buttrey (SD 11, Great Falls) announced the launch of HELP-Link at the Great Falls Job Service yesterday.
The good news is that Democrats and Republicans worked together in the last Montana Legislature to pass the Help Act.
According to a press release from the Governor’s office, HELP-Link is a free workforce program for Montanans covered by Medicaid under the Montana HELP Plan. Created by the HELP Act, HELP-Link connects Medicaid enrollees with high quality workforce training, employment services and job openings in local communities. (Montana.gov)
I think this will be a great program to help Montanans find employment.
The good news is that more Montanans are getting medical coverage through the federal health insurance marketplace. It was also reported that 58,114 Montana residents enrolled for an insurance plan through the marketplace during the most recent open enrollment period. That’s up 7 percent from the previous year. Mark your calendars – your 2017 calendars! The good news is that U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team is scheduled to perform in Great Falls on July 22-23, 2017. (KRTV)
That weekend will be huge for Great Falls.
New Hampshire Primary:
The good news is that today we are one step closer to selecting a President. The New Hampshire primary is today. There are 23 delegates up for grabs for Republicans and 32 for Democrats. (NY Times)
After New Hampshire, the next states in the process are South Carolina and Nevada. The South Carolina Republican primary is February 20, and the Democrats vote in South Carolina on February 27. The Nevada Democratic Caucus is February 20, and the Nevada Republican Caucus is February 23.
After that, all eyes will be on “Super Tuesday” (March 1) – is this a great country or what!
For those wondering about Montana’s primary, it is June 7.
