Terrific News Tuesday

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. – Mother Teresa

Welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday!

In case this is your first time reading Terrific News Tuesday (TNT), this column is all about good news – there’s no complaining or criticizing today – just some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Vietnam Voices
  • Hello Kalispell
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Yahoo & NFL
  • World Series & Royals

Vietnam Voices:

I know at least two Montana Newspapers (Billings Gazette & the Missoulian) that are publishing stories from Vietnam Veterans called “Vietnam Voices” and “Vietnam Veterans Voices” to mark the 50th anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War.

These are great stories that everyone should read. I applaud the Gazette and Missoulian for publishing these stories so they will be forever recorded in history.

Hello Kalispell:

Congratulations to the City of Kalispell! They will receive a $10 million transportation grant to spur economic development in the heart of the city. (Source)

All three members of the Montana Congressional Delegation issued press releases about the grant. Since it’s Terrific News Tuesday, I will provide links to all three!

U.S. Senator Jon Tester’s press release can be found HERE. U.S Senator Steve Daines’ press release can be found HERE. U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke’s press release can be found HERE.

Jobs, jobs, jobs…

Make-A-Wish Foundation:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation does wonderful things for children. Bill Whitaker of CBS’ 60 Minutes takes a look at the Foundation and the people behind it that have been granting wishes to seriously ill children for 35 years.Watch it HERE.

Get some tissues ready…

Yahoo & NFL:

It was great to see Yahoo and the NFL team up to live-stream an NFL game. Yahoo and the NFL announced Monday that Sunday’s exclusive live stream of the Bills-Jaguars game from London attracted a huge global audience: 15.2 million unique viewers and 33.6 million total views.

I would love to be able to pay to see my favorite team’s game streamed each week or maybe see a game that was not being shown locally. Hopefully, this is not too far off.

World Series & Royals:

The good news is that the 111th World Series starts tonight in Kansas City, Missouri.

Missouri.

It’s the New York Mets against the Kansas City Royals – the big market team against the small market team – the Big Apple versus the BBQ Capital – on real grass – outside!

It’s real baseball!

Be advised that for the next week or so, my Twitter feed in the evening will probably be about the World Series. I have always been a Royals fan – but until last year there was nothing much to cheer about since 1985. Click HERE to read my column about the Royals making the World Series last year. Make sure you watch the video at the end.

Many folks believe the Mets will win, so that means my Royals have the Mets right where they want them…

And Finally…

It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. I did it in one afternoon on the golf course. – Hank Aaron
