There’s a countdown for almost everything toward the end of the year. Here at The Western Word, we’re no different as 2010 winds down.
I decided to do some checking and see what my faithful readers liked in 2010. I also checked to see which sports column and weekly “Caught My Eye” column had the most readers. Enjoy.
Here are The Western Word’s top five most read columns (or posts) for 2010:
This column was written on October 4, 2010, and it was where I endorsed a few selected candidates in Montana state Senate and House races.
After the dust settled, three of the four candidates I endorsed won their races and will be serving in the Montana legislature next month.
This May 21, 2010, column received a lot of attention because of a photo I took near Great Falls, which contained the message, “Senator Baucus Senator Tester You’re Fired”
The race between Congressman Denny Rehberg (R) and Dennis McDonald (D) was a much more nasty campaign than close, but readers really liked this July 6, 2010, column.
I figured that this November 4, 2010, column would be the winner but I was wrong. The column was linked all across the web and it received lots of readers and generated many hits on my website. Montana Senator Jon Tester was ranked the number one most vulnerable on my list and several websites have ranked him either number one most vulnerable or close to number one. This column continues to get many visits and probably will continue to as we approach 2012.
Drum roll please….And the number one most viewed column of 2010 is:
In 2010 there were four ballot issues here in Montana. There was a lot of money spent on these issues and people were looking for guidance so they visited my October 7, 2010 column for information and for my personal views on each.
The Most Viewed Sports Column:
I also write about sports a lot. The most viewed sports column of 2010 was this January 2, 2010, commentary I titled “Texas Tech and Leach” which was linked to all across the web.
The Most Viewed Edition of “Caught My Eye”
For most of 2010 on Fridays I write a column called “Caught My Eye” where I take a look at some of the things that caught my eye that I did not have time to write about during that week. Sometimes I add a little sarcasm.
The most read Caught My Eye column was from October 15, 2010. This is the one where I translated a message from the Chinese to Senator Max Baucus (he had recently visited China). It was written in Chinese. I also linked to the slutty Halloween Costumes 2010, told readers I would dress up as Sen. Tester for Halloween, and I wrote about Initiative 300 in Denver (and there’s more).
You can read the column HERE.
Thanks to all the wonderful readers of The Western Word. I have a foundation of faithful followers who visit my website each day and for that I am truly grateful.
Unless God has different plans for me, I intend on writing more in 2011, so stay tuned!
Have a blessed 2011.
