The Sunday Message

There is a lot of talk about a “migrant caravan” of people coming to the USA/Mexican border from countries to the south of the USA.

I think a lot of this talk is political and to get people to vote.

First, the caravan, if it stays together, will not arrive at the border for several weeks. Second, nobody is saying we should allow these people in. They need to state their case for asylum and go from there. Nobody wants to allow these people to enter the USA illegally. That is a campaign ploy.

Finally, here are some passages from the Bible to consider.

Leviticus 19:33-34 (NKJV)
And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 19:33-34 (NIV)
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Deuteronomy 10:19 (NIV)
And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

Have a great week!
