THE ENDORSEMENT:

He served as Montana’s Republican Attorney General and a two-term governor, later rising to national prominence when President George W. Bush nominated him as chairman of the Republican National Committee. On Friday, Marc Racicot endorsed Democrat Sam Forstag for Congress in Montana’s 1st Congressional District.

In his endorsement, Racicot said: 

As I have come to know Sam and watched his campaign, I have observed those same values reflected in his priorities and his commitment to serving the public good. Sam has spent months in union halls and watering holes across western Montana, talking with Republicans, Independents, and Democrats alike. Not to lecture them, but to listen to them. That is the brand of servant leadership our country and state so desperately need. Sam and I may not agree on everything, but on the things essential to the life of our democracy — the Constitution, the rule of law, and the dignity of working hard to provide a good life for your family — we see eye to eye. Sam is the best choice to represent the people of western Montana, and I am proud to support him.

I think Racicot feels the same way I do about the MAGA movement. I think Trump and the MAGAs are ruining our country. Although I don’t live in Forstag’s district, any MAGAs running where I live won’t get my vote. I sincerely hope that Republicans lose the majority in the U.S. House and/or the U.S. Senate so we can block Trump from taking our country down the toilet further.

AMERICAN PRAIRIE & BLM:

NBC Montana and several other sources reported that on Friday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana granted American Prairie’s motion for a preliminary injunction, allowing its bison to continue grazing on current federal allotments.  The preliminary injunction does not resolve the case. Instead, it gives the court more time to consider the legal arguments from both sides. 

As for background, NBC Montana reports that the dispute centers on whether the Bureau of Land Management can revoke American Prairie’s grazing permits after proposing a new definition of livestock eligible for grazing permits under the 1934 Taylor Grazing Act.

This decision to revoke the permits was mostly political, so it will be good to have a federal court decide the issue. 

SMALL POTATOES?

President Donald Trump dismissed the U.S. conflict with Iran as “small potatoes” and “not a big thing,” stating that he prefers to categorize the ongoing military engagement as a “military conflict” rather than a full-scale war during an Oval Office exchange on September 4, 2026. (Source)

The war with Iran has entered its seventh month. 

I don’t think the families of the 18 service members who were killed agree with the “small potatoes” and “not a big thing” comment. 

COCAINE & ADDERALL: 

ABC News reported last week that Republican candidate for a Missouri State House seat, Thomas Christopher Ross, was hit with a federal charge after he allegedly tried to plant drugs on his primary opponent, federal prosecutors alleged. 

Ross, who won the Republican primary last month for Missouri House District 161 in Joplin, was charged Wednesday with conspiring to distribute a controlled substance after authorities discovered the alleged plot to plant cocaine and Adderall in the car of Louise Secker, who faced Ross in the Republican primary.

This sounds like an episode of Ozark.

President Donald Trump sparked widespread debate by posting a map on Truth Social suggesting that New Mexico be renamed “New America.” He claimed the name change would be “more prestigious and beautiful.” (Source) (Source) (Source)

The President also posted a photo of all the Presidents with his photo at the top and “The Greatest” above his name.

Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, FDR, and Jackson were listed by Trump as just “Great.”
