Happy Friday! Here are the stories that grabbed my attention this week:

REFUSE ILLEGAL ORDERS:

I enjoyed watching the video in which six Democratic members of Congress reminded military personnel that they can refuse to obey illegal orders. It was timely. Those six Democratic members all have military or intelligence experience.  

I am sure the current members know that they have a duty to refuse to obey clearly illegal orders. I was aware of the directive when I was in the military.

President Donald Trump did not like it. The Washington Post is reporting that Trump called for the arrest of Democratic lawmakers who publicly exhorted members of the U.S. military and intelligence communities to disobey any orders they perceive to be illegal, labeling the admonition “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL” in an online post.  

The Post also reported that Trump wrote:

“Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He later added that the behavior was “punishable by DEATH!” and reshared a post proclaiming: “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!”

There are enough bat-shit crazy members of MAGA running around that when Trump says “punishable by death,” they may try to please their Dear Leader.   

VERY BAD PERSON:

“I have met some very bad people. None as bad as Trump. Not one decent cell in his body.”

In case you missed it, Snopes reports that the quote is true. It came from Jeffrey Epstein. 

In a 2017 email released by the House Oversight Committee in November 2025, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein wrote, “I have met some very bad people. None as bad as Trump. Not one decent cell in his body.”

That’s the President of the United States of America. Oh, how far we have fallen. 

DICK CHENEY’S FUNERAL:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s funeral was held Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral. It was nice to see both Democrats and Republicans come together to honor Cheney.

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were not invited. That was appropriate. The AP has a list of who attended and who didn’t HERE. 

I’ve always tried not to speak ill of the dead over the years. The words “Rest in Peace” should mean something – even when I’ve disagreed with or disliked the person. 

That was not the case on social media during and after the funeral. People went after Liz Cheney and her father, saying very nasty things about them. I can’t imagine having so much hate that I would need to post something on social media. 

“He (Dick Cheney) knew the bonds of party must always yield to the single bond we share as Americans. For him, a choice between defense of the Constitution and defense of your political party was no choice at all.” -former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney 

History will prove that Liz Cheney was right about Trump. 

124TH BRAWL OF THE WILD:

The 124th Brawl of the Wild between Montana and Montana State is this Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula. The game starts at noon and will be broadcast by Scripps Sports, airing on CBS affiliates across Montana. (Source)

Montana is 11-0 (7-0 in Big Sky). The Griz are ranked #2. Montana State is 9-2 (7-0 in Big Sky). The Bobcats are ranked #3. (Source)

I have no idea who will win this game. Both teams will be in the FCS playoffs. 

There are also Montana high school football championships this weekend. There are two games scheduled for Friday evening and three games scheduled for Saturday at 1:00. (Source)

I have said before that they should schedule the high school football championship games around the Brawl of the Wild.
