Welcome! Today I’ll be covering the following topics:
- Trump Signs Epstein Bill
- Knudsen Goes Too Far
- Gianforte New RGA Chair
- One More Thing
TRUMP SIGNS EPSTEIN BILL:
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had signed the bill to release the Epstein files. The files must now be released within 30 days.
In the post on Truth Social, Trump proceeded to write about several Democrats whom he claims were associated with Epstein.
As many have reported, Trump could have released many of the Epstein files months ago. (Source)
I continue to believe this is a dog-and-pony show. While initial opposition to the release of the Epstein files came from the Trump Administration, something happened that changed his and other Republicans’ minds. I think these files have been scrubbed of negative information about Trump and his friends.
KNUDSEN GOES TOO FAR:
The Montana Free Press (MTFP) is reporting that Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen went too far in editing ballot language for an initiative calling for nonpartisan court elections, the state Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.
The MTFP also reports that, with two judges dissenting, the justices sided with Montanans for Nonpartisan Courts, ruling that changes Knudsen made to Constitutional Initiative 132 would “mislead voters and prevent them from casting an intelligent and informed ballot.”
Does anyone remember that in October 2024, the Montana Commission on Practice (COP) unanimously recommended that Attorney General Austin Knudsen be suspended from practicing law for 90 days for 41 separate violations of the Montana Rules of Professional Conduct?
Yes, 41 separate violations of the Montana Rules of Professional Conduct!
Great googly moogly.
Will the Montana Supreme Court ever issue a ruling on this? Oral arguments were held before the Montana Supreme Court way back on March 28, 2025.
GIANFORTE NEW RGA CHAIR:
In a press release, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) announced Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has been elected to serve as RGA Chair, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves will serve as RGA Vice Chair, and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee will serve as Policy Chair for 2026.
It is a one-year term that begins immediately.
“I want to thank Governor Kemp for his leadership of RGA this past year and I’m grateful to my fellow Republican governors for the trust they’ve placed in me as we enter the 2026 election cycle. The stakes could not be higher,” said incoming RGA Chair Gov. Greg Gianforte. “States with Republican governors are thriving, with our citizens seeing lower costs, safer streets, and a higher quality of life. That stands in stark contrast to the many failing states led by Democrats, places Americans are fleeing. I look forward to working with President Trump and my colleagues to tell our story and elect more conservative leaders all across the country.”
It’s going to be a busy year for Gianforte.
