Welcome back! Time for today’s no-nonsense take. Here’s what I’m covering:
- Government Shutdown
- CodeRED Test Today
- Voyagers Stadium Repairs
- Trump’s Veterans Day Speech
- One More Thing
GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN:
Although they are getting close to opening the federal government, today is Wednesday, November 12, 2025, which is Day #43 of the Trump Shutdown—the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history.
There are reports that the U.S. House will vote on the bill that passed the U.S. Senate sometime on Wednesday (Today).
President Donald Trump is still trying to starve citizens. The Associated Press (AP) reports:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended an order blocking full SNAP payments, amid signals that the government shutdown could soon end and food aid payments resume.
The order keeps in place at least for a few more days, a chaotic situation. People who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to feed their families in some states have received their full monthly allocations, while others have received nothing.
CODERED TEST TODAY:
KRTV and other sources are reporting that at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Cascade County Disaster & Emergency Services will conduct a county-wide test alert of the CodeRED Emergency Notification System. The test will come in the form of a phone call relaying a recorded message from Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter.
KRTV also reports that the CodeRED system allows Cascade County and the City of Great Falls public safety officials to communicate quickly with Cascade County communities by sending mass phone calls and texts when there is a large-scale disaster or emergency.

Note: This CodeRED test is not the same thing as the Code Red mentioned in “A Few Good Men” that was ordered by Colonel Nathan R. Jessup. (Source)
VOYAGERS STADIUM REPAIRS:
The Electric has more detailed information about the Great Falls City Commission approving up to $425,000 of park maintenance district funds toward repairs at Voyagers Stadium.
Several people were unhappy about the money being taken from park maintenance. Some said the repairs for Voyagers Stadium “jumped to the front of the line” and thought it was unfair.
Check out the excellent reporting from The Electric HERE.
TRUMP’S VETERANS DAY SPEECH:
Just as I expected, President Donald Trump could not keep politics out of his speech honoring Veterans on Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery. When he was not political, he talked about himself.
It would be nice if, on a day like Veterans Day, we honored veterans and left the partisan politics and self-promotions at home.
You can watch his full speech HERE.
ONE MORE THING:
Turns out I’m “woke.” All along, I thought I was compassionate, kind, and good at history.
## THE END ##

Just a FYI.
The Electric and other news outlets don’t really do the stadium maintenance issue a favor by referring to the facility as Voyagers Stadium. Makes it sound like the Voyagers own it or have some exclusive use.
The actual official current name is Centene Stadium, because the Centene corp. bought naming rights in 2007, presumably from the stadium’s true owner, the city of Great Falls. Prior to that it was simply Legion park because that’s where the Legion kids played (and still play).
It was never White Sox stadium or Dodgers stadium or Giants stadium either.
A little history here, including some prior ball club investment in the upkeep of this City parks facility.

I noticed the name was different in The Electric report. I thought I missed something. I used Centene in my last column about the maintenance. Thanks. —JmB
