Happy Veterans Day!
Welcome! Here are the topics that made today’s column:
- Government Shutdown
- Daines & Trump
- Marriage Equality
- One More Thing
GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN:
Although they are working on a solution, today is Tuesday, November 11, 2025, which is Day #42 of the Trump Shutdown—the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history.
The U.S. Senate passed its new bill Monday night, with the help of eight Democrats. Now the U.S. House will need to vote on it. That may happen as early as Wednesday. Then it will be sent to the President.
You can find out what is in the bill HERE.
In the meantime, President Trump is still trying to starve people. The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that President Donald Trump’s administration returned to the Supreme Court on Monday in a push to keep full payments in the SNAP federal food aid program frozen while the government is shut down, even as some families struggled to put food on the table.
DAINES & TRUMP:
In the middle of the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. History, U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) accompanied President Donald Trump to the NFL game between the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
Daines is up for reelection next year, so he thinks being seen with Trump is a good thing.

Trump also went into the broadcast booth, and he was terrible. The announcers acted like they wanted to be anywhere but near Trump.
Before the game, Trump wasted several thousand dollars by having Air Force One fly over the Commanders’ stadium. (Source)
By the way, the Lions demolished the Commanders, just as Trump has destroyed the United States. The final score was 44-22.
MARRIAGE EQUALITY:
NPR and several other sources are reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up a case challenging its landmark decision to legalize gay marriage nationwide.
As for the background, NPR reports that the challenge to the court’s 2015 ruling came from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky clerk who refused to issue same-sex licenses after the court’s Obergefell v. Hodges decision, which recognized a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.
I agree with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision not to take up the case.
ONE MORE THING:
For the first time in history, you can post “He’s an idiot,” and 90% of the world will know whom you are talking about.
## END ##

The rabid right is so patriotic. They chant, “Give us your tired, your poor……”
Then as they turn away, they can be heard muttering, “They’re so much easier to steal from and cheat……..”
Trump says they love him.
So, once again, we return from government ‘shutdown’ to government ‘shakedown.’
Sounds about right!
