The Monday Memo

Today is the first day of autumn! That means there are about 95 days left to shop before Christmas!

Here are the topics for today’s common-sense commentary:

  • COVID/Flu Vaccines
  • U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy
  • Charlie Kirk Memorial
  • One More Thing

COVID/FLU VACCINES:

I just wanted my MAGA and anti-vaxer readers to know that I received my COVID and Flu shots on Friday. I think this is my sixth COVID injection.

In deciding to get the vaccines, I listened to scientists and doctors and not some wacko like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., or some politician.

In related news, the Associated Press (AP) reported that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s new vaccine advisers added confusion Friday (09/19/25) to this fall’s COVID-19 vaccinations — declining to recommend them for anyone and leaving the choice up to those who want a shot.

Kennedy and Trump are destroying the government health agencies, and that will lead to serious health issues in the USA.

U.S. SENATOR TIM SHEEHY:

A website called Quiver Quantitative has disclosed some financial information about Montana’s junior U.S. Senator, Tim Sheehy.

Quiver Quantitative claims to have reviewed the new financial disclosure forms filed by Sheehy. They estimate that Sheehy is worth $153.0M, as of September 21st, 2025. This is the 11th-highest net worth in Congress.

It seems that Montana is represented by multi-millionaires. The median household income in Montana in 2024 was $75,340. (Source)

I have always wondered why someone so filthy rich would want to be a U.S. Senator or Representative and put up with the crap in Washington, D.C. I guess they like the power trip and have big egos. I don’t know Sheehy, but I am betting he does not stay long in the U.S. Senate.

I would ask Sheehy, but he failed to answer my last email sent back in April. I politely asked him why he missed a couple of votes in the Senate. No answer. Poor constituent service.

CHARLIE KIRK MEMORIAL:

I did not watch any of the Charlie Cook Memorial held on Sunday. I did read a few social media posts about it. My Sunday is normally made up of church, family, football, and food.

I did not know very much about Turning Point USA and Kirk until he was assassinated. I am not a member of MAGA. The Great Falls Tribune electronic edition had a full-page photo/ad of Kirk on page A-5. The caption read, “May Charlie be received into the merciful arms of Jesus our loving Savior.”

The New York Post said 200,000 attended the service. (Source) Other sources said 90-95,000 attended.

The widow of Charlie Kirk, Erika, spoke at the event. The Associated Press (AP) reported that she said she forgives the man who is charged with killing him.

“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life,” said Erika Kirk, who is taking over as Turning Point’s leader. She added, “I forgive him.”

President Donald Trump talked about hate, and the AP reported:

Trump, who closed out the service, remarked that Charlie Kirk “did not hate his opponents” and “wanted the best for them,” an attribute he found hard to understand.

“That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them,” Trump said. “I’m sorry, I am sorry Erika.”

Reuters reported that in the corridors of the stadium, framed pictures of Kirk and his widow sat on pedestals. Kirk merchandise was for sale, including red baseball caps – an homage to Trump’s signature MAGA headgear – with simply KIRK emblazoned on them.

I don’t plan on having a funeral or any service, but selling merchandise at a memorial service may make me rethink my plan! I still have a few “I Read The Western Word” bumper stickers!

ONE MORE THING:

Imagine a faith so empty that you think bringing prayer into school is following Jesus, but bringing free lunches is not.
