Caught My Eye…

We made it to Friday! Congratulations! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:

  • Freedom of Speech Discussion
  • Charlie Kirk Memorial
  • In Memorium
  • One More Thing

FREEDOM OF SPEECH DISCUSSION:

It’s great to see so many people discussing the First Amendment and Freedom of Speech. Some people are even pointing out some hate speech from some “keyboard warriors” who write nasty things in a drive-by manner.

I have no problem pointing out the hate being spewed by these idiots.

I see the E-City Beat has found two examples of people posting hateful things in Great Falls about the Kirk assassination and pointed them out in a blog post

I did not know this, but Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon appears to be a First Amendment/Freedom of Speech scholar. You can check out his posts HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Maybe Tryon is just a Jack of all trades and master of none.

Go to the website, “Moore on Montana,” and check out his cartoon called, “What 1st Amendment?”  Good stuff!

CHARLIE KIRK MEMORIAL:

The memorial for Charlie Kirk is this Sunday (9/21) at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. According to the Turning Point USA website, the gates will open at 8:00 a.m., and the program will begin at 11:00 a.m. The dress code is Sunday best -red, white, or blue.

The capacity of State Farm Stadium is around 63,000. There will be an overflow area next door at the Desert Diamond Arena, which holds 20,000.

Enhanced security measures will be in place.

Erika Kirk, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance are scheduled to speak. Several other prominent people are listed as speakers.

I am sure that anyone and everyone in the MAGA circles will be there.

More information can be found HERE.

IN MEMORIUM:

It has always been therapeutic for me to write down my thoughts, even during some very sad times. This is one of those times.

Last Sunday, we lost a member of our family. My daughter’s dog, Sophie, passed away, or as some call it, she “crossed the rainbow bridge.” Sophie was “rescued” from a shelter in Spokane several years ago. My daughter claims that Sophie rescued her. I think Sophie helped us all.

There is a big empty feeling in our house.

Sophie was a protector of my daughter. That was her main goal in life. She stood guard at the bedroom door and would not let anyone enter.

Sophie would seem to find me when I was having a snack in the middle of the night or eating dinner. She would look at me with those big brown eyes and not whine or anything, but just stare at me. I would give her a bite. I could not resist those eyes.

Sophie loved to go places, take walks, and ride in the car with the windows down (even in winter). She loved the snow and would always rub her nose in it and come in with snow on her nose.

You are missed, Sophie girl!

ONE MORE THING:

Living with a dog is like having a personal cheerleader who thinks every day is the best day ever as long as you’re together.

  1. My heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Brace yourself…you’ll see her out of the corner of your eye, a dozen times a day, for months to come.

  2. For a guy who regularly slings around his own share of words like communist and socialist to label and slur all people anywhere to the left of his own far right views, as well as hurling all sorts of other invective at those people in his regular rants, Tryon sure is thin-skinned about others directing the same at him.

If he really wants people to tone it down, he should set a good example like the community leader he supposedly is and start moderating his own speech, instead of intentionally trying to whip up his Facebook followers, encouraging them to emulate him with even worse. But he won’t.

    • You are exactly correct! He had an opportunity to be a leader but he failed miserably. -JmB

      • Well he is sort of leader, in a rabble rouser sense. Of the local extreme right anyhow. Unfortunately nothing close to a community leader as in the entire community like one should expect from their local elected officials. On that front he’s a toxic community divider.

Quite an accomplished and dishonest sophist too. He intentionally distorts the “Hate Has No Home Here” campaign against hate of entire groups of people for simply being born who they are, by trying to equate that to normal human hate for particular individuals based on their own merits or lack thereof. Very few if any hate Trump or hated Charlie Kirk just because they were lucky enough to be born white males.
