MONTANA PSC:

Over the past several years, the Montana Public Service Commission (MTPSC) has resembled an unsupervised daycare center more than an advocate for consumers.

As reported recently by the Daily Montanan, Public Service Commissioner Jennifer Fielder tattled on Commissioner Brad Molnar to Governor Greg Gianforte. Fielder asked Gianforte to immediately suspend PSC President Brad Molnar, alleging Molnar is stymieing an internal investigation into his conduct.

The Daily Montanan reports that in Montana, the governor has the authority to suspend a commissioner if the commissioner fails to perform their duties, as described in state law.

The MTPSC has five commissioners who are elected to four-year terms.  The commissioners make around $115,000 per year. Most people believe they do little work. Montanans have seen the rates increase, and the PSC did little to help us. 

The PSC is made up of all Republicans, and the Republicans have controlled the PSC for the past several years, which, in my opinion, is part of the problem. The Republicans seem to implode when they are in the majority. 

Montana needs a more effective system to advocate for consumers. We are not getting our money’s worth with this system.

Lee Newspapers has a story posted about the death of Broadwater County Deputy Mason Moore. He was shot and killed near Three Forks, Montana, in the early morning hours of May 16, 2017.

This story is well-written and effectively conveys the dangers faced by our law enforcement personnel. These brave people need our prayers.

The long national nightmare is over – Cracker Barrel announced they were scraping the new logo and going back to the “Old Timer” logo.
