LATEST LECTURE FROM TRYON:

Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon, who voted to increase residential and commercial water, sewer, and storm drain utility service rates by 27% this week, has come out with another self-named “Ted Talk” or, as I call it, a lecture, for his followers on Facebook. Here it is:

I’m going to be blunt here: I appreciate constructive criticism and I listen carefully to legit gripes about how our City is managed and how our city commission makes decisions. I volunteered to get in the kitchen and I can handle the heat just fine, in fact I enjoy it.

I said this to someone just a minute ago and will repeat it here for anyone else for whom the shoe fits:

“…you’re good at running your mouth, why don’t you step your ass up and run for City Commission instead of whining non-stop about our town? Election is this November. But you’re all talk, so I doubt you have the cojones to do it.”

Commissioner Tryon and the other commissioners can’t stop spending.

Great Falls is losing residents, crime rates are high, and people are relocating to other Montana cities to start businesses. The leadership in Great Falls needs to be replaced. Don’t vote for the incumbents.

TRUMP & MUSK BROMANCE ENDS:

It was fun to watch the back-and-forth on social media between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk yesterday. 

It all started when Musk criticized the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Musk says, “The Big Ugly Bill will INCREASE the deficit to $2.5 trillion!”

I think we can say that the bromance is over. Someone said that the winner will get JD Vance in the divorce settlement. Readers may remember that Musk spent around $284 million to help Trump get elected. 

On X, Musk said that Trump’s name was in the Epstein files, that Trump should be impeached, and that he wants to start a third party.  He also said, “The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year.”

Trump threatened Musk’s government contracts, writing, “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.” Trump also said on social media, “Elon was “wearing thin,” I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!

Former White House Advisor Steve Bannon has called on President Trump to investigate Elon Musk’s immigration status and deport the South African tech billionaire after the bitter implosion of the president’s relationship with Musk on Thursday. (Source) 

The MAGAs in Montana were mostly silent about the Trump-Musk fight. 

SPORTS & SPORTS:

Helena’s Sean O’Malley will take on Merab Dvalishvili for the UFC Bantamweight championship. The fight is Saturday night and will be televised on ESPN+ Pay Per View. Dvalishvili beat O’Malley by decision back in September.  More info can be found HERE. 

The Belmont Stakes will be run this Saturday, and post time is scheduled for 5:04 p.m. Mountain Time. Sovereignty won the Kentucky Derby, but did not run in the Preakness. Journalism won the Preakness and was second in the Kentucky Derby. Both are in the Belmont Stakes. More info can be found HERE. 

Game two of the Stanley Cup final is tonight (Friday) between the Panthers and Oilers.

The Pacers and the Thunder play game two of the NBA Finals on Sunday. 

ONE MORE THING:

I’ve stopped talking to Trump supporters about things like facts. It’s like talking to your dog about your 401k. (Pinterest)

  1. Guys like Tryon always seem to believe that mere citizens of the city should just shut up and be mushrooms and not play their normal role in local government, telling the commissioners what they think.

    Seems to be taking his cue from Trump, who is threatening government retaliation on a private citizen for exercising his right of free speech.

    • The commissioner is pure MAGA to the core. He makes a fool out of himself almost daily.
      He is not a good ambassador for Great Falls. -JmB

      • Rick also seems to forget that he himself used to run his mouth constantly about politcians of all stripe, on the radio and in print and on social media. He still does for instance four years of non-stop mouth running about Joe Biden, and all his constant mouth running about state govenment.

        Somehow he is specially privileged to criticize the actions and decisions of politicians whereas others are not.
