It’s Friday! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:
- Indigenous Peoples Day
- Egg Prices at Record High
- Tester Sells DC Home
- U.S. Supreme Court
- One More Thing
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY:
Some good news from the Montana State Legislature…
The Montana Free Press is reporting that a bill establishing Indigenous Peoples Day cleared the state Legislature on Thursday and is poised to become law. Senate Bill 224 now heads to Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte’s desk — marking the most significant progress the legislation has made in a decade. Rather than eliminate or replace Columbus Day, SB 224 allows Montanans to celebrate either or both holidays.
Governor Gianforte should sign this bill into law.
EGG PRICES AT RECORD HIGH:
Bad news for the Easter Bunny…
The Associated Press (AP) reports that U.S. egg prices increased again last month to reach a new record-high of $6.23 per dozen despite President Donald Trump’s predictions, a drop in wholesale prices, and no bird flu outbreaks at egg farms. The increase in the Consumer Price Index reported Thursday means consumers and businesses that rely on eggs might not get much immediate relief. Demand for eggs is typically elevated until after Easter, which falls on April 20.
I have heard Trump say several times that egg prices were dropping. That was a lie.
TESTER SELLS DC HOME:
I saw an article in the Washington Business Journal that reported former U.S. Senator Jon Tester and his wife, Sharla, have sold their Capitol Hill home, half a block from Stanton Park, for $1.035 million.
I’m sure the MAGAs are confused since they figured he would stay in DC.
U.S. SUPREME COURT:
The Associated Press (AP) reported that the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday said the Trump administration must work to bring back a Maryland man who was mistakenly deported to prison in El Salvador, rejecting the administration’s emergency appeal. The court acted in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran citizen who had an immigration court order preventing his deportation to his native country over fears he would face persecution from local gangs.
I still believe that people who are in this country illegally should voluntarily leave or be deported and never be able to return. In this case, there was a mistake made.
I am very happy we have checks and balances in our Constitution. The MAGAs only like checks and balances when the checks go their way. We will see if the Trump Administration obeys the U.S. Supreme Court.
ONE MORE THING:
Now you know what the founding fathers meant by “Enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.” (Source)
## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

Regarding undocumented immigrants: I am personally acquainted with a Guatemalan woman who, as a teenager, made her way to the US over 25 years ago. The courage and determination that required is almost beyond belief. I know very few people, if any, who could match that accomplishment. Her daughter is a ‘dreamer’ who graduated from SUNY Stonybrook with honors. Her two sons, born in the US and birthright citizens, are both also in college with high grade averages.
With no chance she’ll ever see a dime back, their mother has paid into SS for every dollar she has earned. She has paid her childrens’ college expenses without loans or scholarships. She has paid income tax on every dollar she has earned, probably totalling more than trumpsky and magamusk combined.
Prior to her perilous journey to the US, the most complex machine she had ever seen was a wheelbarrow. Yet she transformed herself into the most capable machine operator and trouble-shooter I have ever worked with.
If there were such a program available, I would gladly accept people like her into the US in exchange for any ten MAGAts who think tax breaks for billionaires will somehow “trickle down” to them. Think about it………..we know what “trickles down” don’t we? We know what those brown stains are on the faces of the GOPers who slobber all over trumpsky.
.
Great points. Thanks, JmB
