Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Montana Legislature
- 60 Minutes & Gaza
- Trump & Deportation
- U.S. Senator Cory Booker
- One More Thing
MONTANA LEGISLATURE:
Thankfully, there are about 21 days left in this circus.
State Representative Kelly Kortum (HD65) posted the following on X:
The GOP horse traders in the #mtleg are slow-rolling property tax bills so they have hostages against Sine Die. Budget is almost done.
Montanans were clear before the election that this was the top issue. There is no reason to have not passed something by now. (Source)
MTN News has a recent report about our state legislature HERE.
60 MINUTES & GAZA:
Please take a few minutes to watch/read the segment from 60 Minutes about Gaza’s children struggling with life-changing injuries from the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
This war is a mess. Innocent people are being killed by both sides.

TRUMP & DEPORTATION:
I saw a sign at one of the “Hands Off” rallies that stated:
“They’re eating the checks. They’re eating the balances.”
You see, the MAGAs don’t like the checks and balances in our constitution. They like power, but checks and balances help prevent one part of the government from becoming too powerful.
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to use an 18th-century wartime law to deport Venezuelan migrants, but said they must get a court hearing before they are taken from the United States. (AP)
I don’t have a problem with this ruling at all. Maybe it will prevent a mistake from being made. As I have said many times, if people are in the United States illegally, then they should leave or face being deported and never being able to come back. If they are here illegally, they are breaking the law.
U.S. SENATOR CORY BOOKER:
U.S. Senator Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) “marathon speech” was a few days ago, but I still want to comment. At 25 hours and five minutes, it was the longest speech ever in the U.S. Senate.
I like Booker, but his speech did little except to get him some publicity. He did get a lot of views on social media. The publicity and the views may get him a few extra points in the Democratic Presidential Primary.
Booker is pretty young (55) in the U.S. Senate. His youthfulness probably helped him from going potty. Older senators would have needed to pee every 30 minutes.
ONE MORE THING:
The Hill is reporting that the Trump administration is planning a June 14 military parade through the streets of Washington, D.C., to mark the president’s 79th birthday. It will also mark the Army’s 250th anniversary.
Sounds like something a dictator would plan…
