Welcome! Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Trump’s Joint Congressional Address
- State Senator Ellie Boldman
- 60 Minutes
- One More Thing
TRUMP’S JOINT CONGRESSIONAL ADDRESS:
In case you forgot, President Donald Trump will address Congress in a speech tonight. It is not called a “State of the Union” speech because Trump has only been in office for 43 days.
Trump posted the following message on Truth Social Monday morning:
TOMORROW NIGHT WILL BE BIG. I WILL TELL IT LIKE IT IS!
I’m sure it will be a circus.
STATE SENATOR ELLIE BOLDMAN:
Montana State Senator Ellie Boldman was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence. Montana Public Radio reported that Boldman, a Democrat, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor offense in Helena Municipal Court Monday morning. She admitted to having a blood alcohol content of 0.149 while in physical control of a vehicle.
Montana Public Radio also reported that, according to a copy of the police citation, Boldman was sleeping in her running vehicle that was obstructing the roadway. Montana law states a person can be charged with a DUI if a driver has a blood alcohol content of over .08%. Boldman was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, with $300 suspended. She also received a 180-day suspended jail sentence, meaning the court will not require Boldman to serve jail time, unless she violates the conditions of her sentence.
The Montana State News Bureau reports that Boldman said in a written statement that the incident was “the biggest mistake of my life and I am profusely sorry for my actions.”
I am sorry for her actions, too. I would hope that someone in Boldman’s position would be smarter than to get behind the wheel of an automobile after having a few drinks. She endangered the lives of people.
Over the years, my readers have seen how much I hate drunk driving. I believe Montana is not tough enough on drunk drivers. I think the sentence Boldman received was bullshit.
I don’t care which party you belong to or what your title is, if you are an elected official you should resign if you are caught driving drunk.
60 MINUTES:
On Sunday, 60 Minutes aired a segment about the Friday incident between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
60 Minutes interviewed Trump’s former National Security Advisor, retired Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster to get his take on the incident.
You view and/or read the transcript HERE.
Here are three things that stood out to me:
- Trump is being played by Vladimir Putin
In other words, Trump is Putin’s bitch…
- Russia invaded Ukraine
Imagine a man who would not fight for his country, berating a man for fighting for his…
- Zelensky is not a dictator
ONE MORE THING:
Someone told me the other day that humans eat more bananas than monkeys. That’s pretty obvious, I can’t remember the last time I ate a monkey.
## THE END ##

Zelenskyy is not a dictator??
If Trump canceled the election would he be a dictator?
The TDS is really strong here.
You can’t be serious.
That’s what dictators do, right Mike? Refuse to hold elections.
By the way, here’s the actual quote.
Washington — President Trump attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a “dictator without elections,”
The reason there was not an election was because there was a war. Almost everyone realizes this.
Trump wants to be a dictator, like Putin. -JmB
Whatever happened to the party of “f*** your feelings”?
Local Republican legislator George Nikolakakos has introduced what can best be described as “the snowflake bill” to try and stamp out anything even remotely smacking of DEI. One of the “divisive concepts” that would be outlawed is anything at all that even dares to unconsciously hint that A PERSON SHOULD FEEL DISCOMFORT, GUILT, ANGUISH, OR ANOTHER FORM OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS ON ACCOUNT OF THE PERSON’S RACE OR SEX.
Waaah waaah waaah! Mommy the kids in Miss Smith’s class said I throw like a girl! And Miss Smith didn’t stop them! And under this bill mommy could file a lawsuit about it.
Presumably though, the administration and legislature’s own very public war demonizing LBGTQ, drag shows, Native Americans, etc. would be allowed to go on unabated.

The old “white man good” and others are beneath us belief.
Sad times. -JmB
In other DUI news, our legislature rejected a bill that would have made a 3rd DUI a felony. Don’t want to seriously criminalize the Montana lifestyle too quickly.

The only Great Falls area rep who voted in favor of the bill was Steve Fitzpatrick.
But apparently a 5th DUI is indeed a felony, as a guy busted driving drunk near Missoula with his kid in the car was found to have four priors. Five must be that magic number where our legislators can finally say with reasonable confidence okay maybe that’s a pattern.

Great information. It’s too bad our legislators are not taking drunk driving seriously. -JmB
Good Morning Jackie,
In relation to the DUI by Senator Boldman, it appears that two things are at play. First her sentence is near the maximum that can be imposed for a first offense DUI. It is likelly that she spent a significant amount of time in the L&C County jail for processing and that she was given credit for that time.
Secondly, it is clear from the level of alchohol in her system, that she has a problem with alchohol abuse. It takes serious effort or extreme tolerance to get to a blood alchohol level that she tested. That indicates that she probably needs to enter treatment that should last at least 90 days. So, she is not really getting any “breaks” nor should she. The laws apply to all.
I don’t know if she should resign, as she could certainly use her position to discuss the scourge of DUI we sufffer here in Montana and hopefully be a force for change by demonstrating that anyone can have a problem with alchohol and also that recovery is possible and help available.
We can only be relieved that she didn’t injure someone else in the process. Our elected officials must do better.
Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it. -JmB
