Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Quote for the Day…

Where force rules, justice does not exist. – Macedonia Proverb.

In today’s column, I take a quick look at these people/issues:

  • Public Safety Levy
  • 60 Minutes
  • Ron DeSantis

PUBLIC SAFETY LEVY:

Cascade County and the City of Great Falls want more of our hard-earned money to fund public safety.

Officials are doing an all-out blitz to try and convince (or is it scare) residents into voting for the levy.

Recently, I’ve seen the Cascade County Attorney and the Cascade County Sheriff take time out from their busy schedules to hold Facebook live discussions about the public safety levy.

I kind of wish they would do their day jobs and stop trying to raise my taxes.

On Monday, I saw a report from KRTV about the need for two more fire stations in the city. A city commissioner claimed that our insurance premiums might rise because of the lack of fire safety.

One talking point was that the city has “almost doubled in size since the stations were built” and that it takes longer to respond.

I wonder what happened to all that tax money that the city received with the city almost doubling in size. I guess it did not go to public safety. Maybe that’s the problem.

Personally, I will be a “No” vote on any public safety levy that appears on my ballot. I do not think this is the time to increase taxes.

You can read the report from KRTV HERE.

60 MINUTES:

The story was all over the news on Monday. 60 Minutes interviewed Denver Riggleman, a former staffer from the January 6 committee. It’s worth watching.

Riggleman contends a call was made from the White House to a rioter’s phone during the insurrection. It’s getting easier to see that the attack was coordinated. With the light sentences received by those taking part in the insurrection, the judges have not exactly created a deterrence.

RON DESANTIS:

We’ve all heard about the stunt from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who sent two planeloads of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.

Each migrant received a pamphlet from DeSantis. Here is how NBC Boston reported it:

A pamphlet distributed to the migrants Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent to Martha’s Vineyard featured a Massachusetts man’s artwork redesigning his state’s flag instead of the official banner.

In other words, it was a pretend flag. DeSantis and his band of clowns could not even get the correct flag on the pamphlet.

DeSantis is trying to be another Donald Trump and that is a dumb thing to do. He should forget about the MAGA fools and work to get the votes of the normal people in the Republican Party – if there are any left.

  1. Speaking of DeSantis (unpleasant as that may be), it seems he’s telling 2.5 million Floridians they need to evacuate because of the oncoming hurricane. My first reaction was, “Where will they all go?” Then I realized how brilliant he must be! He’s already done trial runs on chartering million dollar flights to send people to Martha’s Vineyard. What foresight! What ingenuity. People in Florida must sleep better at night, knowing someone like that is responsible for their well-being.

  2. I won’t vote for anything constitutionalist sheriff Jesse Slaughter proposes. He’s a MAGA with a badge. He belongs to the two most right wing law enforcement organizations in the country, both of which are closely connected to the insurrectionists who attempted to overthrow our duly elected government.

And now Slaughter wants to take his MAGA roadshow into our classrooms. I’m sure he considers that part of his “safety budget” money. He is training his deputies in a program supplied by Hillsdale College. Never heard of them? Just google Hillsdale controversy and start reading. There’s too much there for me to report. I will only say that if you have children in schools where Jesse wants to indoctrinate them, you should be very concerned. Very concerned.

I refuse to let my tax dollars be spent for Jesse’s anti-American MAGA agenda. If we need a budget increase, I’ll wait until a real sheriff comes along, one who believes in the guiding principles of democracy and decency.

Here’s just one article on Hillsdale. All parents and educators need to investigate this MAGA university. It’s all over the internet.
