The Wednesday Read

Quote for the Day…

There are three types of people in the world – those who are good at math, and those who aren’t. -Unknown

In today’s column, I look at these people/issues:

  • The Biden Speech
  • Matt Rosendale
  • Labor Day Picnics

THE BIDEN SPEECH:

It was good to see President Joe Biden go on the offense against the MAGA folks. I liked his tone.

Biden gave a pretty good speech in Pennsylvania on Tuesday with the Associated Press (AP) reporting that Biden railed against the “MAGA Republicans in Congress” who have refused to condemn the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol and now are targeting the FBI as he tried to portray Democrats as the true pro-law enforcement party ahead of the November midterms.

The Democrats have a few decent points to run on this November – things like gun violence and abortion rights will be at the forefront.

Biden is scheduled to give a prime-time speech Thursday evening. Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post lists five points that he needs to make. The article may be behind a paywall (HERE).

MATT ROSENDALE:

I think Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT/AL) has visited the southern border more than he has the northern border with Canada in his own state.

He tweeted earlier this week:

“Visiting the AZ/Mexico border this week to get an update on Biden’s Border Crisis. Thanks to Art Del Cueto for briefing us on how cartels are averting detection along the southern border and a desperate need for the U.S. to enforce immigration laws.”

In several of his tweets from the border, Rosendale acted like he was a reporter for his local news station in Baltimore, I mean Glendive.

I’m sure his leaders in Congress love the way old Matt uses talking points perfectly like “Biden Border Crisis” in his tweets. Check out other members of his party and they are saying the same things.

Rosendale does not belong to any committees that deal with the border. He does belong to the “Border Security Caucus” which has no real power (Source). I think there are over 400 caucuses. (Source)

Rosendale should pay more attention to Montana.

LABOR DAY PICNICS:

The Montana AFL-CIO announced the dates, times, and locations for the Labor Day picnics. The picnics will be held in Billings, Great Falls, Butte, Missoula, and Helena.
