The Monday Memo

Quote for the day…

You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself. -Anonymous

Today’s independent commentary deals with these issues:

  • California Dreaming
  • The Mar-a-Lago Search
  • About Me

I happened to catch an email from the chairman of the Montana Republican Party with this question:

Jackie M. (Mike), do you want Montana to turn into California?!

The email continued with:

I sure hope not! But that is what will happen if Monica Tranel is elected to Congress.
She is a leftist who will vote with Pelosi across the board – something Montana cannot afford!

Sometimes the emails from the political parties are just dumb. This is one of those times. I’m not sure what the chairman was thinking, but Monica Tranel was born in Wyoming, not California.

If it’s because Pelosi represents a district in California, then that was even dumber.

I guess the chairman also failed to realize that Steve Daines, Greg Gianforte, and Troy Downing were all born in California. Plus, many people believe that congressional candidate Ryan Zinke spends more time in California than in Montana.

Here’s some free advice for the chairman: Do not utter the word “California” for the foreseeable future. It’s like the phrase, “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”

Over the past few days, I have read a lot about the FBI search of former President Trump’s home at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

As my favorite rock group, REO Speedwagon sings, “And the tales grow taller on down the line” and it is apparent the righties are spinning this for all it is worth.

I’ve read about the outrage from the righties over the FBI search for classified documents that Trump was holding at Mar-a-Lago. We all know the righties would feel the same way if the FBI raided Obama’s home. (That is a joke. They would be applauding it.)

That is why there’s so much bullshit in politics these days. Most of it comes from the party that is not in power because they want to be in power. Then it switches when they get the power. Truth is thrown under the bus.

Meanwhile, we all lose.

We may fool around and lose our country. We need to care that the laws were followed and that everyone, including the President and former Presidents, are not above these laws.

I read today that threats have been made against those who carried out the searches and against those who approved it. That’s how dumb those on the right seem to be. (Source)

We will find out if the search was political. If it was on the up and up, will the righties even care? I think not.

Thanks to all who wished me the best as I took a few days off to take care of a medical condition. I spent three days in the hospital, and I will be returning soon for surgery.

Here’s some unsolicited advice – make sure you get a colonoscopy.

  1. I did a little recon of the MAGA militia that’s stalking the FBI. Turns out that seventy percent of them should be on the fat boy program, and the other thirty percent are mental defectives. I’ve never really seen a fat FBI guy. Gonna be a very one sided affair, especially if the MAGAs have to continually break for lunch and a cigarette! Or just to catch their wind. I’m excited. Should be reality TV at its finest!

    • Larry – Haha – that’s like you should always bring someone hiking with you in bear country you can outrun!
      Thanks, JmB

    • The story says these AZ guys were calling to “abolish the FBI” and other stories say Steve Bannon is promoting “defund the FBI”. MAGA world has apparently joined BLM!

Sure a 180 degree different response when the cops are coming down on a rich white guy.
