Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Quote for the Day…

The cost of not following your heart, is spending the rest of your life wishing you had. ― Anonymous

In today’s column, I take a quick look at these people/issues:

  • Candidate Filing Ends
  • The Commissioner Speaks
  • The Western Word Poll

I am not sure if the links provide the final list of candidates running for the legislature and other seats in Montana, so I will hold off on most of my commentary until I know it is final.

Check out the Legislative filings HERE.

As for the Non-Legislative filings, I am saddened that it appears the Democrats did not field a candidate for PSC #1. The winner of the three-way Republican primary will win the general. There are several moderate Democrats and Republicans in that district who could win this race.

It appears many candidates believe they are competitive in U.S. House Districts 1 and 2. The cold fact is that these races are Ryan Zinke’s and Matt Rosendale’s to lose.

Supreme Court Justice #2 got a little more exciting with James Brown throwing his hat into the ring against incumbent Ingrid Gustafson and Michael F. McMahon.

I have written about Gustafson before. I was not happy with her sentence on a DUI. Read about it HERE. She will not get my vote.

BTW – I am not a relative of James Brown.

Brown should be considered the frontrunner. He already has the endorsements of Greg Gianforte, Austin Knudsen, and Steve Daines. (Source)

Check out the non-Legislative filings HERE.

The Montana Free Press has an excellent article about the races HERE.

What races are you excited about?

Every few days I check out the “private” Facebook page of City Commissioner Rick Tryon. The following is from March 12 at 12:50 am:

I’m surprised I have to say this but apparently there are a couple of folks in FB land who didn’t get my previous memos. 🙂
So just to be crystal clear, I won’t be told what I need to “stick” to by anyone (except maybe my wife).
I’m way past the point of giving a damn whether or not folks like me or agree with what I post on my personal FB page.
I’ll repeat it for those who missed it: The Democrat party has for the most part become an elitist, extremist, socialist shit show which is ruining our country and our way of life.
I’ll say it loudly and clearly as often as I like without asking anyone’s permission or approval.
If you don’t like what I say on my page take it up with the guy holding the gun to your head making you read it.

Maybe the good commissioner had a little too much wine before posting his comments…

I guess this is a good time to say I don’t care for Tryon’s politics – he tries to be a mini-Trump. I voted for him once, but never again. I don’t comment on his Facebook page. He fails to realize he is now a public official and what he says is public record.

I do like that he posts where he will be performing so I can adjust my schedule to not go there…

I am thankful we have commissioners Joe McKenney, Susan Wolff, and Mayor Bob Kelly.

This week’s poll question asks, “Which cable news channel do you watch the most?”

The results will be posted later this week.

  1. Take a look at long interview of Buchanan by Darrell Ehrlick in todays Missoula Current.
I know Current is in wrong district, but this will run elsewhere. Anyway, gives good read on Gary and shows why I think he can win. Only 8722 signatures to get him on ballot.

  2. I don’t think going off every time someone disagrees with you is a sign you don’t give a damn.
