Thursday Numbers

Quote for today…

They said I changed a lot. I said a lot changed me. – Unknown

Welcome to “Thursday Numbers!” In case you are a first-time visitor, this is the weekly column where I look at the numbers in the news (in descending order) and provide commentary sometimes sprinkled with sarcasm and humor.

This week’s topics include nation, state, and local COVID numbers, unemployment claims, marijuana sales in Montana, Trump fundraising, Zinke/Rosendale fundraising, Army discharges, Biden approval numbers, and much more!

Former President Donald J. Trump’s political committees have over $122,000,000 “Cash on Hand” after raising over $51,000,000 during the period between July 1 and December 31, 2021. (Statement)

It will be interesting to see how he uses it…

The Montana Department of Revenue has released marijuana sales numbers for January 2022 – the first month of legal recreational sales in the state. According to the state, $22.6 million in marijuana sales were made during the month, generating an estimated $2.96 million in tax revenue. (MTN News)

You gotta fight for your right to party…

The two leading Republicans for Montana’s two new congressional seats have cracked the $1 million mark for campaign money so far – although several other candidates, both Democratic and Republican, are racking up respectable fundraising numbers in the western district. Both Ryan Zinke, running in the western district, and incumbent Rep. Matt Rosendale, running in the eastern district, have raised more than $1 million for their 2022 campaigns so far, according to reports filed at the close of January. (MTN News)

Zinke and Rosendale will be tough to beat…
