Welcome to another exciting edition of Caught My Eye (CME)!
CME is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.
Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Called It
- Montana GOP
- Safest States During COVID
- Caught My Eye #555
- One More Thing
CALLED IT:
Last week I said that Montana Governor Greg Gianforte would pick David Grubich to be the next state district court judge in Cascade County and I nailed it:
“I’m not a gambler and I don’t play one on television, but I would bet that Gianforte picks Grubich for the job.”
While reading the story about his selection, I noticed that Grubich graduated from law school in 2010. I don’t feel that he or anyone with just about 10 years of experience should become a state district judge. By the way, the other finalist Michele Reinhart Levine graduated from law school in 2012.
Levine has indicated she will run for the seat in 2022. Good for her. She will get my vote because of the partisan way her nomination was handled by the wacko Republicans in the state senate.

MONTANA GOP:
I got a kick out of the Montana GOP’s press release saying, “Biden costing taxpayers another $15 BILLION.”
The reasoning, so says the Montana GOP, is that “Canada wants to sue America for $15 Billion!! Which taxpayers like you will be responsible for!”
I think the Montana GOP is referring to the Keystone XL Pipeline being terminated.
The Canadians would have to win the lawsuit first, but $15 billion is just a drop in the bucket to what Trump cost the USA. His golf tab was enormous, plus he is charging the secret service about $10k a month to stay in his hotels to provide security for him. (Source)
Plus, you can’t put a price on the stain Trump left on this country.
Thanks for the giggle, Montana GOP.
SAFEST STATES DURING COVID:
In case you missed it, WalletHub released a report detailing the safest states during COVID-19. Vermont came in as the safest. Montana is the 33rd safest.
The interesting thing is my birth state of Missouri. Missouri is ranked dead last as the least safe state (51st). WalletHub ranked the District of Columbia, so that is why there are 51.
Missouri is mostly a Trump state, except for areas around Kansas City and St. Louis. Several sites that track vaccines show that Missouri has only about 39% of its residents fully vaccinated. Shame on Mizzou.

CAUGHT MY EYE #555:
It’s another milestone this week. This is the 555th “Caught My Eye” (CME) column. To the best of my knowledge, CME started in July 2010.
I used it as a place to write about things that I did not have time to write about during the week.
Thanks for reading and commenting.

Imagine if the U.S government built such a massive mechanism … the next thing you know they could be going door-to-door to deliver letters and packages to you.
Terry – imagine. Haha. Thanks, JmB
President Obama openly acknowledged that he received the Nobel Prize for being NOT George Bush. After 4 years of Trumpsky, I was somewhat surprised that there wasn’t a Vatican representative at President Biden’s inauguration to begin canonization procedures.
Today Trump endorsed Zinkadink. I’m waiting for the day when that’s a death knell for one’s political ambitions.
Someone- I can see it now, “From the federal penitentiary in New York, former President and now convicted felon Donald Trump endorses…”
Thanks, JmB
