When CNN, MSNBC, the Associated Press, and later on Fox News called the 2020 Presidential race for Democrat Joe Biden, I cheered.
Ironically, when Biden was announced as “President-Elect,” President Donald Trump was playing golf – something that he has done more than any other President.
I think Donald Trump has done more to harm America than any other President I can think of, and that includes Richard Nixon. It’s time to clean up his mess and move forward.
We also made history! The AP reported:
Kamala Harris made history Saturday as the first Black woman elected as vice president of the United States, shattering barriers that have kept men — almost all of them white — entrenched at the highest levels of American politics for more than two centuries.
The 56-year-old California senator, also the first person of South Asian descent elected to the vice presidency, represents the multiculturalism that defines America but is largely absent from Washington’s power centers.
Shame on those who wrote nasty things about Vice President-elect Harris. Congrats Kamala Harris!
Back in May of 2016, one of my columns made the rounds. In that column, I wrote that the hatred Republicans had shown toward Barack Obama fits Donald Trump to a “T.” Trump doubled down on the hatred and turned friends and families against each other in just a little over three years. He bamboozled the evangelicals into believing he was one of them when he couldn’t even name a favorite verse in the Bible and cited “Two Corinthians.”
One thing to remember is that 75 million people voted for Biden/Harris. Another 71 million voted for Trump/Pence. We are split, but we are all Americans first.
After being declared the loser, Trump said in a statement, “The simple fact is this election is far from over.” I would expect nothing else from Team Trump. He won’t concede because, like a toddler, he does not like to lose. There’s already fake news posted about the election, and some idiots believe Nancy Pelosi will be President in a few months.
I hope there are protests on both sides. I hope more than ever that they are peaceful. Please join me in praying daily for our country during this transition.
Something I am proud of during the age of Trump is that on my personal Facebook page, I never unfriended anyone because of their political views. I was unfriended often by family and friends for pointing out fake news. I have never deleted a comment on The Western Word blog because I did not agree with it. I have deleted some comments for vulgarity. That will continue.
One thing for sure, The Western Word will continue. I will write about what I like and don’t like concerning the Biden/Harris administration, and all politicians.
I sincerely hope that as time goes along, the Trump/Pence years are but a small pothole in our history.
