Caught My Eye…

You can tell a lot about a person’s character by what they laugh at. – Unknown

Welcome to “Caught My Eye” (CME)!

CME is the once a week column that is posted here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. There may be some sarcasm and pointed independent commentary so be warned!

Here are the topics that “Caught My Eye” this week:

  • Public Service Commission
  • Conspiracies/Misinformation
  • Trump’s Valet
  • NFL Schedule Release
  • One More Thing

MONTANA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION:

There are three seats up for grabs on the Montana Public Service Commission (PSC) this year in District 2, District 3, and District 4. Here is A MAP that shows what counties each district covers.

District 2 is the Billings area, District 3 is the Bozeman area, and District 4 is the Missoula area. There are five districts in the state and commissioners are elected to a four-year term. Click HERE to see what they do.

Why am I writing about the PSC? I think they need some adult supervision on that commission. You can Google “Montana Public Service Commission” to see what I am writing about.

It looks like 13 people (Democrats, Republicans, and one Independent) have filed to run in the June 2 primary in the three districts. (MTSOS)

Choose your candidate wisely. Some have some great experience but check closely to see if any of them have experience in dealing with two-year-olds who throw tantrums or if they have experience in dealing with crazy wackos from the right or left side. These candidates might do extremely well in the position.

With the Republicans controlling all the seats on the PSC, they once again have shown that nobody can quite screw up being in charge like Republicans when they have a majority.

CONSPIRACIES/MISINFORMATION:

I poke a lot of fun at conspiracies (chemtrails, black helicopters, fake birds, deep state, etc.) but these days there are too many people promoting fake information about the coronavirus. It seems everyone has some sort of medical background these days and are experts.

These same people share whatever they think is correct and get pissed and pout like a child if you point out that the information is fake. I’ve had people unfriend me because I provided factual information to prove what they posted was untrue.

I remember before the internet that I would stand in line at the grocery store checkout and read magazines about aliens being on earth, Bigfoot roaming the Rocky Mountains, D.B. Cooper the hijacker being alive and well, and Elvis being spotted almost everywhere.

This is the point where I add that Elvis was with me and Bigfoot on a UFO the other day. Nice folks.

Then we have a President who provides medical information and posts things on Twitter that are not true. His mouth says things like disinfectant injections before his brain stops him. His followers gobble the information up without checking. It reminds me of Jim Jones and the Jonestown mass suicide.

With the coronavirus, we have conspiracies and misinformation being spread that says the virus is caused by 5G cellular technology. Another one says that Bill Gates is spreading the virus to sell mandatory vaccinations and to install chips in people.

The one person on the President’s task force that can be trusted, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been targeted by many saying he is trying to get rich on the virus. Many Trump supporters don’t trust him.

If you see a friend in your social media circle promoting something about the coronavirus or something that does not seem right, do your research about it before sharing. I frequently check PolitiFact.com, FactCheck.org, and Snopes.com for updates to see what is true or not.

Copy the link to the facts and post it on their page. If it pisses them off, then so be it. You may save a life!

TRUMP’S VALET:

A member of the military serving as one of President Donald Trump’s valets has tested positive for the coronavirus, the White House said Thursday. It said Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have since tested negative for the virus and “remain in good health.” (AP)

I don’t wish the President ill health, but I do think he should self-quarantine from the public for two weeks. Maybe take a mini vacation. Let VP Mike Pence handle things. If Trump’s advisors could take his phone during this time, it would solve a lot of problems.

No need to thank me…

NFL SCHEDULE RELEASE:

The NFL released the regular season schedule for the upcoming season Thursday night. This is always an exciting time, but this year there are some concerns about the season happening with the coronavirus.

My Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs are set to host the NFL kickoff game on Thursday, September 10. The Houston Texans come to Arrowhead looking for revenge after blowing a 24 point lead and losing 51-31 in the AFC playoffs last season.

You can check out the whole NFL schedule by clicking HERE.

Go Chiefs!

ONE MORE THING:

I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers…
