Welcome to the big column to end the week, “Caught My Eye” (CME)!
If you are a first-time visitor, welcome! CME is the once a week column that is posted here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. There may be some sarcasm and pointed independent commentary so be warned!
Here are the topics that “Caught My Eye” this week:
- Biden vs Trump Poll Results
- Barr – Senate & House
- Fox News – Ingraham vs Wallace
- Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill
- One More Thing
Biden vs Trump Poll Results:
Earlier this week I polled my readers asking, “If Joe Biden and Donald Trump were to fight, who do you think would win?” I also added “America” as a choice in the poll.
Trump (age 72) is listed as 6’3” and weighs 239 lbs. Biden (age 76) is listed as 6’0” and weighs 215 lbs.
The readers have spoken and here are the results:
- BIDEN: 47%
- TRUMP: 21%
- AMERICA: 32%
Thanks to all who participated. Look for more silly polls in the future.
Barr – Senate & House:
One thing I noticed as I scanned my sources for information about Attorney General William Barr and his visit to Capitol Hill this week is that in the Senate, U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) shined in the questioning of Barr who appeared in the front of the Judiciary Committee.
Since she is running for President, Harris scored some all-important points in the presidential category. It’s a good fundraising tool, too.
President Donald Trump called Harris “nasty” when referring to her questioning of Barr, whom she seemed to stump a few times.
I think her tough questions and the cornering him was one of the main reasons Barr skipped the House hearing on Thursday.
Barr made a mistake of not showing up for the hearing, but the House Democrats from the Judiciary Committee went a little overboard when discussing it in front of the media.
It does not appear there’s a lot they can do about him not showing up, except go on MSNBC and CNN and complain.
Later on in the day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Barr lied to Congress. If that’s the case, Pelosi should stop talking and impeach him.
I’ve said before that Barr is Trump’s guy. Barr is putting Trump ahead of justice and that is something that no Attorney General should ever do – but that is what we have in 2019. It’s not good for the Republic.
Fox News – Ingraham vs Wallace:
The Daily Beast is reporting that calling into Fox News’ pre-hearing coverage of Wednesday’s Senate testimony of Attorney General William Barr, Fox News primetime host Laura Ingraham slammed Fox News anchor Chris Wallace for the horrific crime of not echoing Fox News primetime’s pro-Trump talking points.
The deal is that Wallace deals mostly in facts and Ingraham is one of Trump’s biggest supporters on the network next to Sean Hannity.

Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill:
In case you don’t know him, Tyreek Hill is a wide receiver and plays for my Kansas City Chiefs. He is 25.
Back in 2014, he was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team because he was arrested for domestic violence. Hill pled guilty to the charges.
The Chiefs drafted him in 2016. He made a big impact with the Chiefs. He was due to get a big contract after his rookie contract expired.
This offseason there has been an investigation into child abuse by Hill and his girlfriend. Their child reportedly had a broken arm. After an investigation, the authorities decided not to prosecute, but then the next day an audio recording of Hill and his girlfriend surfaced that gave out more information. The investigation was reopened and the Chiefs suspended Hill from all team activities.
The NFL is also looking into the situation. The Chiefs faced a similar problem with Kareem Hunt and they quickly cut him in November 2018. Hunt was signed by Cleveland. He is suspended for the first eight games of next season. He got a second chance.
I believe in second chances, and I believe that Tyreek Hill is already on his second chance after the incident during his time with Oklahoma State. He needed to keep a clean record and if it is discovered he did not, he should be banned from the NFL for life.
By the way, I turned the page on my NFL Chiefs calendar from April to May. The player featured for the month of May is none other than Tyreek Hill. That should keep him on the minds of people for the next 30 days. That may not be a good thing.
