The political future of Montana Governor Steve Bullock (D) hit a speed bump (or maybe ran into a ditch) on Tuesday when it was reported by the New York Times and MTN News that a former top aide to Gov. Steve Bullock, Kevin O’Brien, resigned from the New York mayor’s office last year in the wake of sexual-harassment accusations.
They also reported that O’Brien was fired from the Democratic Governors Association in 2015 for the same reason when Bullock was its chair. O’Brien reportedly ran Bullock’s 2012 gubernatorial campaign and later went to work for the DGA and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Bullock issued a statement (because that is what politicians do in times of crisis) saying he was “deeply troubled” to learn of the circumstances of O’Brien’s 2018 resignation from the mayor’s office.
Maybe Bullock should have told someone about his problem employee?
Nonetheless, I think we should be “deeply troubled” about the statement reported by the Associated Press (AP) from Bullock’s spokeswoman, Ronja Abel. She said the governor thought a former senior staffer of his wouldn’t harass any more women after being fired from the Democratic Governors Association.
Apparently, thinking is not something Bullock does well…
The Postal Service:
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
I notice that the unofficial motto (above) of the U.S. Postal Service does not mention bitterly cold weather, so I guess they get a pass for suspending mail delivery in some areas on Wednesday due to the extreme cold.
You can read the “Service Alert” from the USPS which tells which areas won’t be getting mail HERE.
There are also reports that mail delivery will be suspended in eastern Montana Wednesday due to very cold temperatures.
Maybe we’re getting soft?
Sheriff of Social Media:
Since I am the self-appointed Sheriff of Social Media, here is the latest:
There’s a story going around about the state of New York passing a bill that legalizes abortion up to birth.
Snopes.com, a fact check website, said the story was trending on their website and here is what they had to say about it:
The New York state legislature passed a law allowing abortions after 24 weeks if the mother’s health is at risk or there is an absence of fetal viability.
The law does not allow for unrestricted abortion up through the normal term of pregnancy.
You can read the full report from Snopes by clicking HERE.
One More Thing:
I saw the following post from a friend who lives in the Midwest, where it’s supposed to be really cold, and thought I would share:
So you know all those things you said you wouldn’t do until hell freezes over…that’s Wednesday. Plan accordingly.
