The Monday Memo

As you waste your breath complaining about life someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have. – Unknown

Today’s independent commentary deals with these issues:

  • MT Attorney General vs MT Secretary of State
  • Trump Stuff
  • Trump in CoMo
  • Trump in Bozo
  • Final Thoughts

MT Attorney General vs MT Secretary of State:

Most people don’t realize it, but the jockeying for the Montana Governor 2020 started this week with some verbal shots being fired between two statewide-elected Republicans.

Republicans are good at ripping each other apart.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton’s hiring of a Republican political consultant’s wife who unsuccessfully defended the office in a lawsuit earlier this year was a needless political decision that cost $60,000, Attorney General Tim Fox said.

The comments were first reported by Montana Public Radio. It was also reported that Stapleton said, “he wanted someone he could trust in the courtroom.”

Later Friday, the AP reported that Stapleton Chief of Staff Christi Jacobsen said Friday that Fox’s comments were hypocritical and showed that Fox “wanted to roll over” in the state Democratic Party’s lawsuit challenging Stapleton’s certification of the Green Party for the 2018 elections.

There are probably several people on the GOP side dreaming of running for Governor.

I’m not sure who the Democrats plan on supporting to run for Montana Governor in 2020, but we should all hope and pray that they find a viable candidate. The GOP will control the state House and Senate and Montana needs someone from the other side to act as a check and balance on the batshit crazy stuff some of the wackos in GOP propose.

Trump Stuff:

Early Friday, President Trump tweeted this:

Republicans are doing so well in early voting, and at the polls, and now this “Bomb” stuff happens and the momentum greatly slows – news not talking politics. Very unfortunate, what is going on. Republicans, go out and vote!

The President also decided to go ahead and hold a rally after the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

He justified doing that by saying that the New York Stock Exchange opened the following day after 9-11. That is false; it was closed until September 17. Trump also said that Major League Baseball (MLB) did not let 9-11 stop them. MLB did not play any games until September 17.

There are several stories that Fact Check his latest lies. Here is one.

Trump in CoMo:

Hey Mizzou friends – President Donald Trump will be campaigning in Missouri this Thursday (Nov. 1) in Columbia. The event will take place at Columbia Regional Airport, (Hangar 350). Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the rally starts at 6:30 p.m.

Trump in Bozo:

There are several reports that President Donald Trump will be back in Montana later this week campaigning for U.S. Senate candidate Matt Rosendale. The event will be held in Bozeman, but no date or time has been released.

Final Thought…

  • You must be a special kind of stupid if you think the Democrats sent fake bombs to themselves.

  1. I wonder if Representative Gianforte is begging the President not to come to Bozeman this week. Hate speech and the resulting violence are on voter’s minds.

Victory for Rosendale and Gianforte still turns on their “A” record from NRA. A thug firing an assault rifle in a Synagogue and mowing down those gathered makes any candidate with an “F” NRA record now look like a “Favorite.”

The President’s rally con’t help but be Trump as usual and Republican candidates will be left with the political fallout days before the election.

    • Carole – After his last visit, Gianforte may not want to President to mention his name. I bet he will. Thanks, -JmB
