The Sunday Message

Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves. – Abraham Lincoln

This coming Wednesday is the Fourth of July also called “Independence Day.” There will be parades, picnics, and fireworks.

I hope you have a safe and happy fourth!

Since it’s an election year, there will be candidates or their volunteers in the parades letting us know they are patriotic and that they love the USA. They will shake hands, kiss babies, and maybe hand out some candy.

The Fourth of July is also the number one beer-drinking holiday, which means the saying, “Hold my beer and watch this” is probably something we’ll hear a lot.

This week I posted a poll result from Rasmussen that said 31% of likely voters said it’s likely that the United States will experience a second civil war sometime in the next five years.

I hope not. Our country is really divided these days and it worries me. We may not like some of our elected officials, but we need to love our country.

Please join me in praying for our country over the Fourth of July holiday.

Have a great week!

  1. We can’t read Matthew 18:2-6 often enough:
“And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

    • Carole – Amen to that. Thank you! – JmB
