Tuesday’s Quick Hits: Memorial Day, Vacation, and One Week!

I don’t know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don’t you, Clark? – Cousin Eddie, National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)

Here we are – it’s a Tuesday that seems like a Monday! Here are some issues that caught my attention for today:

  • Trump’s Memorial Day Tweet
  • Trump’s Memorial Day Speech
  • Vacation Time
  • One Week Out

Memorial Day Tweet:

President Donald Trump decided to make Memorial Day all about him with this tweet:

Happy Memorial Day! Those who died for our great country would be very happy and proud at how well our country is doing today. Best economy in decades, lowest unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics EVER (& women in 18years), rebuilding our Military and so much more. Nice!

I’m not that surprised by anything President Trump does these days. The responses to the above tweet were brutal.

Memorial Day Speech:

I did enjoy and I was pleasantly surprised at the President’s Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery. I especially liked the part about seven-year-old Christian Jacobs, whose Marine Corps dad died when Christian was just eight months old.

Read the speech HERE.

Vacation Time:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 72% of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress spends too much time on vacation. Twelve percent (12%) disagree, while 16% are not sure.

Are they really on vacation? Just because they are not in Washington, D.C., does not mean they are not working in their home states attending meetings, visiting constituents, etc.

It’s just more fun to say they are on vacation. Some may be going to Wally World…

One Week Out:

In one week we have Primary Election Day in Montana (June 5). Don’t forget to vote! For more information about voting in Montana, click HERE.

According to an article in the Billings Gazette, nearly 100,000 people already have voted in Montana’s primary election.

My ballots are unopened. Who knows what will happen in the last days of the election!

Thanks to all those who decided to run for public office. Good luck!
