Monday’s Quick Hits: Boom, Basketball, and Pizza

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. – John Wooden

Today’s quick hits deal with these issues:

  • What’s that Sound?
  • Women’s College Basketball National Championship
  • Men’s College Basketball National Championship
  • Little Caesars

What’s that Sound?

Around 2:45 p.m. on Easter Sunday, my family and I heard a loud boom. We thought something had fallen in the house, but after we investigated we found nothing.

Several other people heard the “boom” and KRTV in Great Falls posted a story on their Facebook page that garnered hundreds of comments. Many people heard the same noise.

KRTV reported that someone played an April Fool’s Day joke saying the “boom” was a nuclear detonation.

We still don’t know what the sound was.

Read the reporting from KRTV HERE.

Women’s Basketball National Championship:

It does not get much better than this.

All four teams (Louisville, Mississippi State, UConn, and Notre Dame) in the women’s basketball final four were number one seeds.

The two women’s basketball final four semifinal games went into overtime.

The winning shot in the National Championship between Notre Dame and Mississippi State was won by Notre Dame with 0.01 left on the clock.

Congrats to Notre Dame.

The women’s college basketball games are far superior to the men’s game.

Men’s Basketball National Championship:

The final four semi-final games between Loyola Chicago/Michigan and Kansas/Villanova were very boring.

In fact, the most exciting part of the games was when Michigan star Moritz Wagner went after a loose ball and almost took out the TBS crew of Jim Nantz, Grant Hill, and Bill Raftery) calling the game. He ended up breaking Raftery’s glasses.

Loyola Chicago held their own for a long time against Michigan but finally fell 69-57.

As for Kansas, they were beaten by Villanova (95-79) which the score is closer than the game actually was. Kansas may never recover from this loss. It was embarrassing. Kansas could not stop Villanova from raining threes all game.

So tonight (Monday) we have Michigan and Villanova for the National Championship. All I want is a competitive game. Please!

One More Time – Little Caesars:

  1. Wife and I thought that perhaps a tree had fallen on or near our house!

    • Anon – that is another place I checked. Very weird. – JmB

  2. There was a huge double boom west of Kalispell last week. At first I thought it might have been a high speed highway crash. Later, I concluded it was a sonic boom produced by a jet or by a small rock slamming into the atmosphere. I knew it wasn’t war because John Bolton wasn’t National Security Advisor yet.

    • James – Thanks. I had not thought of Bolton! – JmB
