Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! – Dr. Seuss (Happy Birthday!)
Welcome to the big show to end the week “Caught My Eye” (CME)!
If you are a first-time visitor, CME is posted right here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little – maybe both.
Topics that I am providing commentary about today include Trump & Guns, Ben Carson’s furniture, Big Sky Bus Lines, and much more!
Trump & Guns:
This week President Donald J. Trump told members of Congress and the country that he is not a fan of due process. Here is the transcript from the White House website:
I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida. He had a lot of firearms. They saw everything. To go to court would have taken a long time. So you could do exactly what you’re saying, but take the guns first, go through due process second.
“…take the guns first, go through due process second.”
That statement should cause everyone to pause for a moment…
Ben Carson’s Furniture:
Good News! CNN is reporting that Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is requesting that the order for a $31,000 dining set be canceled, according to a statement provided exclusively to CNN by longtime adviser Armstrong Williams.
According to CNN, in Carson’s statement, he said, “I was as surprised as anyone to find out that a $31,000 dining set had been ordered.” Carson continued, “I have requested that the order be canceled. We will find another solution for the furniture replacement.”
Big Sky Bus Lines:
A five-year-old girl in Great Falls who had fallen asleep on the bus on the way to school was not found until she was spotted walking from the Big Sky Bus Lines yard down Old Havre Highway.
Officials with the bus company apparently had failed to see her when they checked the bus at the end of the route. She may have been under a seat.
The mother had received an automated call from the school telling her that her daughter was absent.
KRTV reported that Big Sky Bus Lines is taking full responsibility for the incident. They also reported that the bus driver and aide were at work today, but were assigned to different routes and buses and that Big Sky Bus Lines is continuing to investigate the incident.
During the interview, I did not feel that the General Manager of the bus company seemed that concerned about the incident, saying unemotionally that, “unfortunately this can’t define our team” and that it was “human error” and “we’re very very sorry.”
Well, it does define your team.
One More Thing:
One day you will wake up & there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now. ― Paulo Coelho
