Whenever I think of the past, it brings back so many memories. – Steven Wright
Welcome to Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!
In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- The Solar Eclipse
- Students Hold Special Class Reunion
- VA Secretary in Montana
- Airfares Fall
The Solar Eclipse:
The good news is that for a few minutes on Monday most Americans forgot about their troubles and watched in amazement as the solar eclipse took place.
We were humbled. We were astonished. It’s amazing to me that we know when there will be a solar eclipse; let alone what area it will cover.
Thank you, God, for the great show!
Students Hold Special Class Reunion:
Colin Steele’s physics class from 50 years ago got together for the solar eclipse in Jackson, Wyoming. It’s a special class. Of the 32 students in the class, 16 are now PhDs. There are also five lawyers, three doctors, a judge and a five-time “Jeopardy!” champion.

VA Secretary in Montana:
I was happy to see Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin visiting Helena on Monday. It was also good to see U.S. Senators Jon Tester, a Democrat, and Steve Daines, a Republican, there to meet with him and veterans.(MTN)
The health care and benefits provided to veterans should never be a partisan issue.
If you are planning on traveling by air, the good news is that Aug. 22 is when average U.S. domestic fares get cheaper; Aug. 21 is when average trans-Atlantic ticket prices will drop. In effect, these dates are the start of the air travel industry’s fall season. (USA Today)
