Monday’s Quick Hits

For every good reason there is to lie, there is a better reason to tell the truth. – Bo Bennett

Today’s quick hits deal with:

  • Sheriff Bob Edwards
  • Trump Vacation
  • Rallying Cry
  • Football

Sheriff Bob Edwards:

KFBB in Great Falls is reporting that Cascade County Sheriff Bob Edwards “will be holding a press statement Monday (today) at 1 p.m. where he’s expected to speak with the media for the first time.”

The Great Falls Tribune last week reported that Edwards’ partner-family member assault case in Lewis and Clark County was deferred, meaning the Helena City Attorney’s Office agrees to drop the charge entirely if Edwards meets the conditions of a plea agreement for six months.

I’m sure some local energetic reporter will ask Edwards about the report that he (Edwards) “put the gun in his mouth at one point” during the incident in Helena. Maybe they will ask Edwards if he feels someone who has done that should be carrying a weapon.

I think Edwards should announce his resignation.

Trump Vacation:

Many organizations have reported that President Donald J. Trump is taking a 17-day vacation at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf course. In the past, Trump had condemned President Barack Obama for taking vacations.

In a tweet from Saturday, August 5, Trump says his stay at Bedminster “is not” a vacation:

Working in Bedminster, N.J., as long planned construction is being done at the White House. This is not a vacation – meetings and calls!

Although there are many reports of Presidents taking vacations, they don’t ever really get away from the job of President.

Rallying Cry:

Actor James Woods is one of the few conservative actors who fights the conservative fight almost every day. He recently sent the following tweet which has kind of become a rallying cry in different forms for conservatives:

I’ve never witnessed such hatred for a man who is willing to work for free to make his beloved country a better place. It is pathological.

All Presidents love their country. I’m not sure the “working for free” part is such a great argument – but so far that and three words (Judge Neil Gorsuch) probably define Trump’s Presidency.

Good news! There will be football (in some form) every week from now until the cows come home. That means if my calculations are correct, the cows will come home Sunday, February 4, during the Super Bowl.

Is this a great country or what? Go Chiefs!
